3-star hotel service and hospitality parading as a 5-star. The property itself is very beautiful and well-maintained, but the service and hospitality are seriously lacking. It’s a coin toss whether you’ll encounter a kind, professional hotel employee or a rude, dismissive one acting like you’re inconveniencing them by asking a simple question. Maybe the local workforce is dealing with tourism fatigue, but a true 5-star hotel should uphold consistent customer service and hospitality standards. If they can’t, they don’t deserve the 5-star rating.
For example, the onsite Italian restaurant, Paranza, refused to seat us at literally 9:02 PM, claiming seating ended at 9:00 PM. I politely mentioned I was a guest of the hotel and asked if that made a difference — they laughed and said no. So we had to leave hungry.
On another occasion, I asked the pool attendant if the stack of towels was clean, and she rudely responded, “Why would I put dirty towels here?” To which I replied, “Well, they’re so poorly folded I couldn’t tell if they were clean or not.” Not exactly the kind of conversation you want to start your pool day with.
Overall, I might stay here again because of the number of on-site activities, but I won’t be expecting to be treated well by the staff like I’m accustomed to at other 5-star resorts.
