I love Switzerland and have visited Interlaken many times from the other side of the world, but this was my first stay at Hotel Krebs. Mainly because mid August is the peak holiday season and most of the other hotels, including Hotel du Nord where I normally stay were booked out.
I travel alone, and yes their single room was really 20 square metres as advertised. And the Airconditioning worked properly and so I had no problem sleeping even though it had been 33 C ( over 90 F ) earlier in the afternoon. I tried to get an extra night but it was booked out so went to Zurich early instead.
Of the few Interlaken options available I chose this one based on the positive guest review comments and I wasn’t let down.
Staff extremely helpful and accommodating ( and apologetic I couldn’t stay an extra night as hotel sold out on Saturday night).
However one important guest comment that should be corrected is that Hotel Krebs is not equi- distant from both Interlaken train stations. It is actually only about 300 metres or less from Interlaken West, but 1 Km ( 1000 metres) from Interlaken OST ( east). So if you are arriving by train from Bern get off at the first train station, Interlaken West and walk the 300 metres to Hotel Krebs.
Similarly if you are coming from the opposite direction , say from Lucerne, your train will terminate at Interlaken Ost ( East) and you will need to either walk a gentle 1000 metre walk thru town, or wait for a connecting train one further st
