Il Lux è un albergo discreto, pulito e molto essenziale, non ci sono orpelli, nè optional, nè servizi aggiuntivi. Tuttavia queste parti essenziali funzionano tutte alla perfezione, per cui i letti sono comodi e puliti, il bagno è funzionale e le camere ampie e luminose. Certo, per essere nel Queens forse costa un po' troppo, ma questo è ormai un problema di tutta NYC. Comunque buono!

I’ve stayed at this hotel quite a few times to be closer to work when it was cheap and while I was in the process of moving. It’s offers a very comfortable King sized bed, Roku tv’s that easily stream. The front desks staff is polite and although it’s mostly no frills for the price point it’s a very solid value. The hotel is in more of an industrial area than a major part of Astoria, but it’s central enough and you can easily order plenty of food options. There are no views really from any of the rooms I’ve rented but the hotel is clean, the furniture is new. It’s not luxurious but it’s more than appropriate for the price point when on a budget and looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep in Astoria, or close to the city.

Upon opening of hotel its big plus is that its brand new " NO FRILLS HOTEL" still didnt have blow dryers or towel racks in bathrooms,, due to just opening i assume ,, only concern is if they dont start raising rates ?

Had to move room 3 times. First 2 rooms didn't have AC. , hot water, tv wasn't working, 2 lamps didn't have light bulbs, no trash can. Last room they finally managed to get ac, hot water and tv working.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. They put me in a room without AC first. Then they called me at 10:00 pm to ask me for my name because they somehow didn’t have it after I checked in. The room that was supposedly working with AC barely cooled things down. Then they BANGED on my door waking me up at 11:00 pm, again, to check my ID. Floors and all surfaces are filthy. Hair on the bathroom everywhere. I’ve never had a worse experience and they won’t even let you check out early if you’re trying to shorten your stay after not wanting to sleep in squalor.

Out of four nights, I had no hot water for two. Fine the next morning every time, so it isn’t that anything was broken. They just ran out of hot water. There’s really no excuse for running out of hot water in a hotel. Clearly each unit doesn’t have its own heater, and that’s a problem that they badly need to fix. I ended up showering at a friend’s apartment, but it was still annoying. The folks doing construction on the front door woke me up at 7:30 every morning with hammering and sawing. That was also really obnoxious, though at least that will probably be done in a few weeks, so it is a temporary problem. Lack of basic things that other hotels provide (e.g. paper cups) also proved challenging. And I wish they had a microwave in the rooms. That would make the fridge a lot more useful. All in all, it is a serviceable hotel, except for the whole cold shower thing.

Front appearance of hotel was currently being worked on(no update online), garbage bags in front of entrance, floors were dusty. Hotel did not invest in ice machines, despite the amount of money they charge per stay. However, front desk staff were quite friendly, but could not accommodate anything beyond their control. Not worth the money...
