We arrived around 7:30 pm. The associate told us that the hotel was 50% booked, however, there were no cars visible in the parking lot. When we entered the room, the carpet was disgusting. The bedding appeared to be new, but there were two spots on it. There were rust drip spots on the ceiling. I can see that there were attempts to make the room have all of the amenities, but it would have been better to ensure that the room was spotless. We had friends traveling with us and their room was also unacceptable. Their carpet was filthy and the toilet was not clean. Outside of their room, there were two mattresses and a couch leaning against the outside wall of the next building.
I told the associate that we could not stay in the rooms. He seemed incredulous. He told me that he could not give me a refund because they were booked through Expedia. I took him to our room and showed him my concerns. He did offer to show me another room. Unfortunately, to have two rooms that were both so disgusting, I did not want to stay in this hotel.
We left and had to drive around looking for a new place to stay. We did find a hotel that was much cleaner.
I can understand that this hotel has tried to keep abreast of the things other hotels have added. Unfortunately, the carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced before adding a refrigerator. When I called Expedia, I was told that they could not issue a refund without the hotel's approval.
