Location was amazing! We missed check-in because it closed at 3 so thank goodness the hotel next door got us in contact with someone! Loved the little strip it was on.

This was a great little ocean front place. The room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant was great. Excellent location with in walking distance to several restaurants and to a beach. We were able to walk right to our Bio Bay tour guide shop as well. They had a nice spot for me to park our rented side x side. We are planning a trip back to Vieques next year and we will defiantly stay here again.

The location for the hotel is excellent and is near to all the points of interests. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the room and in the porch. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Bring your own air freshener. Small shower not clean hair on walls. I wish there were more affordable places to stay in vieques. Easy to park. No staff. I did enjoy the French press and fridge in the room. No AC. Sheets seemed clean. The guesthouse is across from the ocean. Seemed safe and secure.

This room is FOR REAL in the restaurant. You walk past the kitchen to get to your room. There is no AC. There are 2 fans. The water pressure in the shower was great! Unfortunately when we woke up in the morning and tried to use the kettle to make a French press, it didn’t work. We didn’t notify anyone because we were on a time crunch. It is very conveniently located to a lot of restaurants and things to do on the island.

Staff we met on the first day were restaurant people and they were great. Room had no windows and we only found out when we were leaving that the back door did open to a porch but there were no instructions that that was possible. Bathroom stank of sewage and bathmat was wet on our arrival. Great location.

This hotel has an excellent location. The room size was decent for our group of three (two adults and one child), and it included both a queen bed and a twin bed. The mattresses were comfortable, and the overall space in the room felt adequate. The check-in instructions were a bit confusing at first, but the hotel staff were helpful in assisting us. The room could be better maintained—for example, the bathroom had slow drainage, causing water to accumulate before draining. Additionally, some of the door hooks were either missing or not functioning properly. One major discomfort was the constant noise from the restaurant—music as well as chatter from staff or guests—which was especially noticeable at night. It would be great if the hotel could find a way to better contain the noise during late hours. These weren’t major issues overall, but they were small inconveniences that could be easily addressed to improve the guest experience.

TLDR: Modest but solid choice for an overnight stay for biobay. The restaurant has the best food and drinks in Esperanza, hands down (I went to all of the restaurants). Get the burger. The staff was phenomenal. I learned after I booked my stay here that the biobay tours do not happen during full moons. I reached out to trade winds and they were beyond accommodating. They changed my reservation days, and even offered an upgrade! Check in is contactless. The rooms are modest, but clean and comfortable and have a roomba to get rid of sand (so cute!). Right across from an entrance to the beach. I would stay here again just for the staff and the food. The food here was the highlight of my stay in Vieques, no joke. Thank you!

4/10 Fair

The only good things to say about the place are the location, air conditioning, and mini-fridge (no microwave). However, the bathroom is just awful. The door provides no privacy whatsoever. The shower temp controls are broken, and getting the right temperature in the shower is almost impossible. The bathroom's shower needs to be redone since it seems very dirty and has multiple types of tiles (like patches). The bathrooms and especially the shower, need to be redone to make this a good place to stay. The closet is useless with doors that do not open correctly. This is caused by trying to create a tropical look, but with bad carpentry and materials. I recommend to just removing those latched doors (with incorrect latches and doors too long for the space and placing simple running curtains wth a tropical design. The check-in and check-out process was simple and effective. The doors with number codes is a very good process to avoid carrying keys around. The price for the place is very good until you see the bathroom that needs rework. And please add a microwave.

2/10 Poor

Apparently “check in time is 3pm” for tradewinds means “UNTIL 3 pm”. We and another family arrived around 5:30 and were shocked to find out that, at this one hotel in all the world, the listed check in time is the last time you can check in. And there is no late check in and nothing to do about it. We lost our money and had to scramble for another place at 5:40 pm in little Esperanza. Yes, when we made the reservation we signed a thing saying no late check in allowed. But the listing in the app clearly says 3pm check in. Sending a passive message is simply not enough. This policy is so outrageously unique that it needs to be treated as such. This is especially true on Vieques, where travelers very easily might not make it by 3pm due to ferries and taxis. The real kicker is that this policy is completely unnecessary. The property has keypads on the doors! We didn’t need a physical check in at all! The other property I booked at the last minute simply texted me the code. Would have been simple to do the same. Overall I expect this happens many times. It happened twice on our day.
