My disappointment started the moment I entered the hotel. Although my reservation clearly stated that the room would be available from 3:00 pm, the receptionist informed me that they could not guarantee access until 4:00 pm. Not the best welcome.
The level of penny pinching at this hotel was unlike anything I have experienced before. If you wanted your room cleaned, you had to use an online link to request housekeeping. Excuse me, but isn't room cleaning part of what I paid for? Guests who do not want cleaning should be the ones opting out, not the other way around.
I had forgotten my toothpaste and was told I had to BUY one at reception. Need an umbrella? You have to pay for that too. It felt like absolutely everything came with an extra charge.
The hotel is huge, yet I was told that only one person was working at reception at night. If you needed assistance, you had to go downstairs yourself because there was no one else available.
You can leave your luggage in a designated room before check in, but be careful: the room is open and unsupervised all day. Anyone can walk in, and the hotel states that it accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
For the same price, I have stayed in hotels in the city centre offering much better service. One of the worst hotel experiences I have had in years: unfriendly staff, poor organisation, and an astonishing level of stinginess.
