4/10 Regular

The first room I was given smelled heavy of mildew and the bathroom was unclean. The gentleman who checked me and my family at the time was very accommodating and offered another room. The second one also smelled of mildew, so a third room was offered. It was sufficient, although it (and neither of the other rooms) had a deadbolt or chain. The next day, around 9/9:30am I took a shower. When I got out of the shower my kids let me know the room phone had rang. I called my parents, who were also staying at the inn to if they had called. They didn’t. I thought maybe it was a wrong number and went on with my morning. While getting dressed someone started knocking aggressively at the door. I finished dressing quickly and opened the door. No one was there. I started packing our things to leave for the day and someone started knocking again. They knocked so hard that the door came open. I went to the door and a man was walking away. I called after him and said, "excuse me?!" He came over apologized and said he had called and knocked numerous times without answer. He didn’t know anyone was in and was collecting room keys. Apparently he worked there. At check out (10:17am)I wanted to complain about the man and being harrassed before 10 in the morning when check out is at 11, but unfortunately the same man was working the desk. I will be staying somewhere else next time I visit Brookings.
