The Big Shot is a ride that will catapult you to a height of 1,081 feet from a 921-foot-high platform, and it's found at the STRAT Hotel, Casino & Skypod. Maybe you thought your next trip to Las Vegas already had enough excitement planned, but if it doesn’t include Big Shot, then think again. Soaring at 45 mph, you will get a scenic view of the Las Vegas Valley as you experience 4 Gs of force on the way up, with negative Gs on the way down.
It’s a fairly quick ride, but with 16 other amusements offered by the STRAT, you could easily plan a day trying out other rides, such as Insanity, X-Scream, SkyJump, and the Skypod. The STRAT also offers a variety of dining, shopping, and nightlife options to maximise your experience, whether for a day trip or an overnight stay.

Big Shot highlights
The Big Shot is a unique experience because riders’ legs dangle, making the catapult all the more thrilling. Another ride at the STRAT, Insanity, capitalises on a similar feature, having riders dangle from the side of a building at over 900 feet high. X-Scream, on the other hand, is a roller-coaster ride that lets riders teeter over the edge of the SkyPod at 886 feet high. For those interested in a freefall, the SkyJump provides visitors with a crossover between bungee jumping and skydiving.
The SkyPod, while perhaps less terrifying, isn’t to be skipped out on. You can take a ride for views of the Las Vegas Valley and enjoy a variety of dining options and drinks, as the SkyPod features a 360-degree revolving dining room, the 107 SkyLounge, Observation Deck, and more. Depending on what you’re up to, there are also meeting rooms and a wedding chapel you just may want to visit.
Nightlife and entertainment
Along with your ride on the Big Shot, the STRAT offers a variety of other entertainment options, such as a live performance series. MJ Live embraces the classic hits and dance moves of Michael Jackson’s career, while L.A. Comedy Club meshes the comedic stylings of Los Angeles and Las Vegas. The third show, Celestia, is performed in a 30,000-square-foot theatrical tent with a medley of acrobatics, dance, aerial work, and live music.
Other entertainment options include the STRAT’s infamous casino. Spanning 80,000 square feet, the casino sports over 750 machines and 44 tables with games such as craps, blackjacks, baccarat, and roulette. For drinks, make a stop at one of the bars, like 107 Skylounge, View Lounge, REMIX Lounge, 108 Drinks, or McCall’s Whisky Bar.
Good to know
If you know you’d like to purchase tickets for more than 1 ride or for some of the STRAT’s other attractions, the hotel offers a variety of packages, which can include rides, dining, drinks, hotel reservations, and casino offers. Some of the STRAT’s other amenities include 30 retail stores for apparel, jewellery, speciality items, and gifts. You can take a dip in the Elation Pool, too, or grab a snack at the pool’s café. There’s a wide range of restaurants, including spots such as PT’s Wings and Sports, Nunzio’s Pizzeria, 108 Eats, and McCall’s Heartland Grill. The STRAT also offers special rates for larger groups or events.
Because of the high-speed ride and high vertical G-forces at an elevated height, riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Big Shot. Additionally, the STRAT does not recommend this ride for guests with physical, mental, or medical limitations.
