Coronado Beach is a popular and family-friendly beach featuring excellent swimming, walking, surfing, and fishing, and it has a dog-friendly area. Locals refer to it as Central Beach because of its placement in the middle of Coronado’s coast of stunning beaches.
Because of their proximity, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll and visit several of the nearby beaches or enjoy a bite to eat at one of the area restaurants. You'll find firepits on the beach as well, making this the perfect spot to enjoy s'mores and take in the beautiful sunset.

Highlights of Coronado Beach
The north side of Coronado Beach is located in front of Sunset Park and is referred to as Dog Run Beach by locals. If you're traveling with dogs, this is the perfect spot to let them roam around and enjoy the beach, but be aware that other areas of the beach do not permit pets.
Near Hotel Del, there are often gigantic, highly-detailed sandcastles that present the perfect photo op, especially for those with children. At low tide, you can find tide pools filled with rich sea life like starfish, sea cucumbers, mussels, and more.
Good to know about Coronado Beach
Coronado Beach is located at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alameda Boulevard. You can find free parking spaces by the main beach entrance on Ocean Boulevard near Hotel Del Coronado. Those interested in architecture are sure to enjoy the hotel’s beautiful Victorian design along this sandy beach.
The beach does get crowded, so try to arrive early to score the perfect spot. Coronado Shores Beach is just a short walk south, as is the North Island Navy Base. In the distance, you can see Cabrillo National Monument perched on Point Loma.
