Customer service is exemplary. We enjoyed our 5 days stay at their Gold suite because of that.
The Gold Suites were incredible. Given the “no-dining” order imposed by the government just days before we checked in, the hotel staff made ur stay enjoyable. Canapés were waiting for us in our room as the Gold Lounge was closed and the in-room dining for breakfast was to die for. I would highly recommend staying in the Gold Suites.
One of the best experiences ever! The staff was nothing but respectful, courteous and always there to help with a smile! The hotel is gorgeous and rich with history that no other hotel can offer in Toronto!
Everything moved smoothly and efficiently. Amazing place to stay!!
We’ve been staying at the Royal York for years, but this was our first trip since the renovations and first experience on their Gold Level. Overall, we were beyond impressed. Lobby is even more gorgeous than before (who knew that was even possible!) Suite was spectacular. The Gold Level was fantastic and well worth it. Evening snacks were average but breakfast was outstanding. The gold lounge is gorgeous and serene and a great place to relax. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, overall we felt very pampered and attended to. Felt very secure with all of the COVID precautions (temperature screen on arrival, no guest had stayed in room for at least 48hours prior). We are already looking forward to a future visit!
Weve stayed with the fairmont every year for 7 years. It is amazing. The renovated gold lounge and the new lobby are breath taking. Cant wait to see whaf they do with the library bar. Service is second to none
Very nice room and service. It is a big hotel so not personalized.
We cannot say enough about the Royal York. We felt like we were transported to another world/time. Firstly, the service was exceptional. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond with a smile on their face. In addition, we booked a Fairmont Gold room, without even knowing, and WOW! The room was stunning as well as the Gold Lounge. The food in the lounge was delicious, we had no idea this was part of the package but we enjoyed all of it. Plus the lounge was a great place to relax in peace while enjoying the beautiful decor. Finally, the Library Bar and Clockwork we great experiences. Again, the service at both locations was beyond what was expected and the atmosphere can not be contended with. We honestly felt like we were transported to the 20’s while enjoying beverages at Clockwork. Plus the drinks were to die for! This was our first time at the Fairmont Royal York and we joked that we wanted to move in. We cannot wait for our next visit.
It always amazes me when a hotel spends millions of dollars in renovations and they don't (or won't) have someone's experience in the planning: The Royal York in Toronto has spend so much money in redecorating rooms in the VIP floor, which anyone can access. I thought we would need to swipe our card to access but it wasn't so. How could they not think to make the closets of a decent size. We were there one night, and had to take the ironing board out, to fit 2 suits in the closet. Elegant all marble bathroom (no bathtub?) and when you sit on the toilet you can see marks around it from urine that have stained the marble. Bad finish on the marble or not a good quality stone. The canapés included in our stay, were not in fact canapés, but an assortment of uninteresting empanadas, purple mash potatoes, and a plate of crudités with no sauce or dip. I would like to spend over $600.00/night in a hotel that pays attention to detail, no just cheap luxury. Disappointing.
Check in was at 4pm (and I had been promised a room at 4pm the latest after checking in at around 1:30pm) but room was not available until 5:30pm. Some of the concierges were nice about giving updates, but one man was downright surly. Many guests were waiting for their rooms because the gold floors had been fully booked the night before and I suspect many guests opted for a late checkout, but it seemed like certain guests got expedited service, a complimentary bottle of bubbly, a discount, etc., while others (like me) did not. It would have been a nice gesture of hospitality if they had at least offered vouchers for a complimentary drink from the honor bar. In terms of service, it was also unfortunate that I was woken up in the middle of the night by someone dropping off the bill---it's scary to hear scratching at the door in the wee hours, and crass that it's for a bill. Perhaps they could drop it off when they do the turndown? The Nespresso machines were out of pods, so there was no espresso-type drinks from check-in to check-out, which was also disappointing for a hotel of its caliber. The lounge and room were beautifully designed, however, although more power outlets would have been nice in the lounge, and a towel bar near the sink would have been convenient. The soft amenities were good---the Skinjay shower aromatherapy smelled lovely, as did the Le Labo toiletries. I'd consider staying again, but with the hope that the service is better than it was this time.
