I chose this hotel after staying in another small, historic FQ hotel last year. I ended up being somewhat disappointed in the lack of upkeep & cleanliness of the Dauphine.
Pros: The staff were very nice & helpful anytime we needed anything (towels, extra shampoo & hand soap). The pool looked very clean, although we didn’t have a chance to use it. Beds were made & towels replaced daily.
Cons: Like most places in humid climates, there was a slight smell to the room. The carpet throughout the halls & in the room is very worn and disgustingly stained & dirty. I didn’t see or hear a vacuum over 3 days. The headboards are fabric, and are significantly stained as well. The chair to the desk was stained & torn. A room survey card completed in 2024 was still on the desk. Mini shampoo & bodywash bottles were provided, but we had to ask for hand soap. The bar soap wrappers from the last guests were left in the shower. We never got enough towels (3 of us) & what we got varied (first day: 2 towels + 4 washcloths, 2nd day: 2 towels, washcloths, hand towels + bath mat, 3rd day: 2 towels + 2 washcloths). I wore my flip flops everywhere, including in the shower, and only covered with a sheet (pulling the blanket & top sheet off because I doubt they’re laundered after each guest). The lobby didn’t offer water or anything.
Overall, I would not stay here again due to the condition of the rooms & the location. I’d recommend a place on Royal Street and beyond.
