This is a really nice hotel. Old and some rooms feel dated but the main areas and restaurants are fairly well kept.
It’s a taxi ride to Manchester City, Uber cost me £40 in (6pm traffic) and £27 back (11:30pm). With free parking on site, this offset what I would have paid in a multi storey overnight at a hotel in the City.
Food in the restaurant is good and the pool and sauna and gym were great. For the price (£100 weekday night), it was great value.
There was only one small bottle of water in the room and the wardrobe door wouldn’t open. I asked reception for more water and they refused, referring me to the machine next to reception to pay for bottled water. Disappointing.
Overall, for the money, I would stay again. If you like Golf, the Simulator looks great and I believe the course is good.
Traffic can be bad at rush hour but being in the intersections on the “east lancs” road (A580) and M62 it is a good location for transport.
I have been here many years ago for conferences and there were conferences going on during my stay.
