I attended a wedding at Mottram Hall, despite my feelings about the stay, the wedding was perfect and the venue worked hard to run the wedding event smoothly, my comments refer only to my overnight stay.
I stayed at Mottram hall for 2 nights and feel quite disappointed about the room and amenities considering the high price of the hotel.
Despite being over 150 per night, the room cost doesn’t cover access to any of the hotel’s amenities or the breakfast (which is £18), although I knew this before booking it is quite disappointing.
The room itself wasn’t anything special, it was the same size, actually smaller) than most premier inns I’ve stayed in, and there wasn’t anything in the room which made me feel like I was staying in a 5* hotel.
In fact, my bathroom mirror was cracked, there were some blueish stains on the toilet, and it lacked what I consider basic amenities such as shower gel in the shower or toothpaste.
The walls are also very thin. I didn’t sleep at all on the first night because of children screaming in the corridor, and drunk people shouting in the corridor late at night which the hotel staff were aware of (as I also heard them loudly speaking with other guests about room issues after 23:00) in the corridor.
In addition to this, drinks are incredibly expensive. £15 for one Aperol spritz (a 70cl bottle is £12). Overall I felt that I paid extortionate prices for a mediocre room and I wish I had just travelled in for the wedding instead.
