Overall, our experience at the Tamarijn Resort was average. Mid-July brought rough, windy days and waves to Divi Beach, with overcast skies. While the staff and service were good, the restaurants at Tamarijn were better to those at Divi. However, Divi’s beach and night entertainment were better, so we needed access to both.
The food was generally good, but I caught a stomach bug that ruined the end of the trip for me. I couldn’t eat much after that. My kids had fun at the Divi beach and Tamarijn pools, but we avoided the Tamarijn beach due to the rocks.
We had requested a “beachfront” room months in advance for our 3-year-old, but it was ignored, and we were instead placed in a room in front of the rocks. This was dangerous for children to swim in, and when we asked for a relocation, they informed us that there was nothing they could do. Even if they had moved us to a room without rocks, it would have been further away from the facility, making it inconvenient for a family with small children.
On the positive side, our room location was close to the pools and restaurants, which was convenient. We used the golf carts to get to Divi Beach, which was much better and closer to everything. The beach wasn’t shallow, and the rough waves weren’t ideal for my 3-year-old, but my 9-year-old still enjoyed it. The last day of the trip had the least amount of waves, and my 3-year-old was more comfortable and enjoyed it more.
