Clean, comfortable room with modern facilities which had been sensitively restored to retain plenty of character. Excellent central location and a short walk to most places you’d want to visit.
We were right next to the Emily Turner restaurant but couldn’t hear any noise from the bedroom. Chilled still and sparkling water on tap, free drinks and snacks in the room and a free drink at the tiny Gimlet gin bar which was worthwhile visiting to try out the extensive selection of gins and get expert advice from the mixologists. Secure car parking is available but is limited so needs to be reserved in advance.
Reception is housed in the newly opened Garde Hotel where the included breakfast is also served. Plenty of choice and a good start to the day - coffee, fresh fruit, granola, yoghurt, breads, juices, pasties etc. Barista coffees, tea and cooked items were available but chargeable. The only disappointment was the self-serve coffee machine - only one machine meant there was a queue at busy times and the taste couldn’t compare with the excellent coffees we’d had elsewhere during our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful.
