After more than an hour, I returned to my friend who had been minding the car and our luggage all the while, and told him of my experience. We had been advised to use the P&R Parking Spittelau drive-through option to unload our baggage but the entry was blocked by cars waiting for spaces to become available so we could not access the drive-through, so instead we drove around a large section of the surrounding city using our GPS to pursue parking lots, but we could find nothing within a 1,000 metres so after negotiating several one-way streets and peak traffic we were able to access the one-way exit of P&R Parking Spittelau, and illegally reversed into the standing area around 200m from the Urban Island Apartment. We quickly ferried all of our luggage into my apartment and completed the check in for my friend, Mr Nehyba, by which time, the parking attempt and unloading had taken us another 30 minutes.
It took us two hours from the time we stopped our car for the first time in an illegal bay on the opposite side of the main road, to the time we were actually in our two apartments, from 3:15pm until 5:30pm.
I had needed a laundry urgently so I went to the Urbi laundry, loaded the machine, inserted my coins and tried to start the machine, but could not. I lost the money. I moved my washing into the next machine and I inserted more coins and followed the instructions closely, but same thing, not working. More frustration just hours after the stressful check in efforts.
