The room was ample and clean. The staff was wonderful. The location excellent if one wants to explore Siena.
The rating is not good because the above balances against the experience with the parking.
Athena advertises that parking is included, a relatively rare commodity in Siena. The hotel is also located, conveniently, just outside the ZTL.
Parking is insufficient, which means that the hotel has two employees whose main (or only) job is to deal with guest cars. At least one of these guys maneuvers the cars in a careless way (I saw him come very near to a collision with a car). And by the time our four-night stay ended, it was our car that was damaged.
Am I 100% sure it was him, rather than another guest trying to get into the narrow space? No. Can I prove it was employee carelessness? Absolutely not. So I did not even raise the issue with the hotel.
That said, I did see him in action (with other cars) so my guess seems to be the likely explanation.
A bad end to what otherwise was a wonderful experience. If you are not driving into Siena, I recommend to you this hotel wholeheartedly.
