Everyone was very friendly, made you feel right at home. It’s a charming hotel. Easy parking made it convenient. Small room, small bathroom, but that’s expected considering the age. It was roomy enough for my husband and I. It was clean and comfortable. Best ice machine too!!! I would definitely stay here again.

The owner took such personal care of me while my husband was in a nearby hospital. I recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a quiet stay.

I would recommend. It was a nice place with friendly staff and clean rooms. The bathrooms are a bit cramped, but that just comes with historical buildings.

First the room we reserved was not available because the carpets were being cleaned so we were moved from a premium room to a tiny little room that you could barely turn around in. The room was not cleaned, trash emptied or towel changed for three days and only then after we complained. The owner offered mulitple excuses none were valud. We had stayed there before but trust me we won't stay there again.

Strongly recommend El Primero!

Karen was wonderful. She greeted us and gave us a bigger room for free! I love the art deco design and the San Diego theme. Each room has a different historic designation. The outdoor patio and gazebo are wonderful places to relax. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, bars and a park. Bravo!
