We had a pleasant enough stay at Cotswold Grange, although overall it didn’t quite meet our expectations, particularly given the price.
We appreciate that the hotel has a traditional, period style, which is part of its charm. However, our room felt rather tired and in need of some TLC. On a positive note, the bathroom was lovely, modern and very clean, with nice towels.
The staff weren’t unfriendly, but we felt the service lacked warmth and a personal touch. Check-in was quite abrupt, with very little conversation, and when checking out, we were simply handed our bar bill without being asked how our stay had been or whether everything was okay. It’s a small thing, but these interactions make a real difference to the overall experience.
Our room was also next to the staircase, so we could hear guests coming and going throughout the night, which was quite disruptive. The in-room tea and coffee facilities were disappointing too, with only a few English breakfast and peppermint tea bags, no coffee, and a rather dated kettle.
The location is excellent, and complimentary parking is a real bonus. However, for the price, we expected a little more attention to detail and a warmer experience. It wasn’t a bad stay by any means, but unfortunately, we wouldn’t be in a rush to return.
