Overpriced and disappointing
My wife and I booked a room to stay for two nights over NYE. As we initially considered bringing our dog, that seemed to be a convenient place to stay. As we managed to get a pet sitter, we ended coming on our own. The room we stayed in was quite dated and the smell coming from the toilet was very unpleasant. The bedroom was awful and quite uncomfortable. The breakfast is very good and well served, though there was only one member of the staff doing the tables and serving with the help of someone from the kitchen. She was clearly doing her best, but it was not enough to accommodate the huge demand from a fully booked hotel. The hotel is clearly missing a good manager and considering the price we paid for, it's not worthing staying there again.

Somewhat ok
Great service, check in was quick and easy. Disappointed that I wasn’t given a sea view, the kids would of loved it as well as my self, seeing as thought I was the first one arriving on the day! Breakfast, would of liked the option of choice brown or white bread like the other guest, as well as been told what’s for breakfast before hand...as I was traveling with children, planning in advance helps a lot!...literally had to request for things. Had a vegetarian fully English and it was great I must say. Just need to venture out more on vegan/vegetarian options, Dairy alternatives, Meat replacement meals & drink! Multi choice Coffee machine, as well as a water dispenser. Bedroom was very cosy and warm, kids had a great night too! Games room wasn’t available, unknown why! Late check out request pre visit was told on the day not available, very disappointed...was even offered an option to hold my luggage while I take the kids along the beach for a walk, literally dragged it around from 10am-4pm, not practical at all!

The view from this hotel is amazing, if you pay extra for a sea view! The 2 staff members were pleasant enough and when you arrive go to reception and pay the £2.50 for a 2 day parking permit-Bargain! However they are the only positives. The hotel smelt like boiled cabbage in the lobby and old wood chip wall paper in the room. I regret paying extra for the sea view as the room (14) was so tiny it was only ever meant to be a single Approx 3 metre squared at a maximum, the bathroom was approx 2 metres by 75cm....even at my 4ft 11 stature it was beyond tiny! The whole room was 1970 wood chip, that was very very tired. The bedding sheets were really clean, but i made the mistake of looking under the sheets to see a very dirty divan and pillows. The bin still had rubbish from the previous occupants, plus a cup had been used and they forgot to put in a kettle which i had to go source from reception. This hotel doesnt do food either and a good walk to the local amenities, but remote is what i wanted. Fortunatly due to a family emergency we had to leave after only being in the room a total of 1 hour. The staff member suggested he would speak to his manager to let them know the amount of time we were there to see if a partial refund could happen...Im guessing not as not heard a thing from them. Needs a good strip down and redecorating job.

2/10 Poor

Do not let the relatively high rating device you
Bedding not changed during our five night stay. Coffee cups not replaced once. When I checked in the man at reception complained that he had just been sacked with two days notice. I was told that the hotel owner is struggling due to its sister hotel near Whitby losing a lucrative business contract with miners. I've stayed in hotels in Mozambique during a civil war when it was the poorest country on the works with one item was on the menu yet I've never ever experienced not having beds with fresh linen made daily at a hotel

Pleasantly surprised
We had a lovely modern, clean room (16) that seemed to be recently refurbished. Great view over sea. Daughter’s room wasn’t as modern, but still clean. Good bar area and friendly staff. Others areas of hotel not as modern. We didn’t book breakfast but lots of local cafes.

I am sorry but the whole hotel smells. Including the room which has a separate smell of it's own. And then bathroom had a third different kind of smell. I have been to cheap hotels before but never before have i stayed at a hotel that smelled! The service was fine. The view from the room was great. But the stink of the place made the stay really forgettable for me

Nice hotel and the staff were excellent
Nice hotel and the staff were excellent and very friendly. In the given conditions, with all hotels in terrace style is difficult to ask for more. However, the view to the see makes a lot of the money (at least half).

Nice hotel with a nice view
The hotel was a small bit pleasant little establishment the guy on check in desk was great and loved the little bar area, sea view room was nice touch and bed was comfy with a nice breakfast to finish the stay off Only criticisms are the toilet/shower room is very small and could do with another chair to sit on Otherwise great stay

The location was good, overlooking the beach and only 10min walk to town. Parking is not guaranteed and can be a bit hit & miss. The shower wasn’t warm or powerful & could do with improvement. I wouldn’t not stay again.
