We knew we had a late arrival planned, and contacted the hotel to advise this well in advance to let them know. To note, reception has limited availability. On the evening we arrived we rang hotel when we to say we were on our way from the airport and were told to get there as soon as possible they were waiting for up for us and wanted to go home.
A hold on the credit card was made for $200 (fair enough) am I was told that it would be refunded at check out. Several days later when the hold hadn’t been removed, I contacted the hotel and was advised that they tried to refund and an error had occurred and that there was nothing they could do. I reported this to my bank, who provided instructions to the hotel to contact my bank to have the hold removed. The hotel then said that they had removed the hold on funds and that they wouldn’t be contacting my bank. This went round in circles a couple of times, each time the hotel staff asked what they could do to help then didn’t follow thru. Finally after 40 days of having the hold on my funds my bank was able to release the hold without the hotel’s permission. Disappointing really and I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
