Vacation buster
It's a beautiful property. However, just beneath staff's bright reception is an establishment that desperately needs managerial improvement or overhaul.
For the property I would have rated it a 5 - nice rooms, blue/white coastal design. This dropped down to 1 because of the quality and service - it was a cascade. Most apparently: I ate with a friend at the Den Japanese restaurant on the first floor. The food (Yakitori) arrived cold and when we asked to heat it up, the chef literally blowtorched it (i.e. charred on the outside cold on the inside.) Also, very long waiting time for food even though not crowded.
They gave us 30% off the bill since the food was so bad. I didn't finish the meal because usually when it's that bad at service, there's also sketchy in the kitchen. This was good judgement because within an hour I literally vomitted all the food up on the street. Must've been bad pork or fish (from the sushi). Ruined my last night in Pattaya. I'd rather be out partying but instead I'm stuck in bed with a sore stomach writing this stupid review.
I've lived in Thailand for 8 years and this has never happened to me. Worst Japanese restaurant I've encountered in Thailand, and I've been to many, many Japanese restaurants here. Astounding that it's in an upscale hotel (including upscale prices.)
