In theory, this is a fantastic hotel - it’s charming and in a fantastic location. And I cannot say enough about how wonderful, kind and attentive the staff are. The layout of the room is also super unique and works very well.
But the problem for us is that this property does not seem to be attentively managed. Both mornings we were there, we were woken up at 7 am by a contractor using power tools right outside our suite. The staff kindly gave us a free drink from the lounge and profusely apologized for the inconvenience, but this is on whomever owns the property - any hotel chain in the world wouldn’t book someone to loudly fix things while guests are still sleeping.
There is also only one person at the front desk who is also responsible for running the desk and breakfas area/lounge by themselves. During the morning when everyone is getting breakfast, this poor person is run off their feet preparing food and cleaning up and no one is at the front desk. Again, a management issue - whoever owns this place is cheaping out on staff and running them to the red line at the expense of the guest experience. There is also no one there after about 9-10 pm, so on the first night we were briefly locked out and had to call someone to get the door code.
(These are small things, but the bathroom is a bit old and the shower doesn’t have good pressure or very hot water.)
Under many circumstances this hotel is great. But if you have issues, this place leaves a fair bit to be desired.
