The hotel has a beautiful view of the Dal lake, it's all downhill from there. The biggest disappointment was the food. All the main course dishes were just poor or outright bad. I ordered Fish-n-Chips on Oct 15th and the fish was off! Next day I ordered 'fresh' trout curry and the texture of the trout was like a dry shrivelled cadaver exhumed from a graveyard. And on the 15th, the stale Kashmiri Pulao served to us tasted like it was reheated leftovers from the previous day.
Other disappointments: The TV in the room was not working, the remote needed replacement of batteries, the body-wash bottle in the shower was empty.
If you are charging a fortune for a single night's stay, at least heat the pool for a few hours.
Staff: We experienced a subtle weariness or indifference (bordering on rudeness) from the staff, especially the hostess and one of the younger waiters at the restaurant. If you hate your job so much, find a different job. The busboys dealing with the dishes and room-service persons were very courteous though.
While checking out on 17th Oct, we forgot two beer cans in the mini bar of the room and we were notified about it long after we checked out from the hotel only as a mere token gesture. Would you have waited for 2 hours after the checkout to charge us if we had consumed anything from the minibar?
