I booked a "King Suite" as my husband is tall, but after checking in we discovered the room had a double bed. There was no alternative available so we decided to stay and make the best of it. The room was quaint but we found the lack of curtains on some small windows difficult to deal with and there were cobwebs on the light fixtures and furniture. Unfortunately that was nothing when we realized that our room was directly above the bar, which turned into a loud, raucous pub on Friday and Saturday nights. There is no mention of such in the description of the hotel and we were blindsided by the live music, loud crowd and lack of consideration to hotel guests. We got through the evening on Friday, going to bed with ear plugs and covering the windows with couch cushions, but Saturday was a different matter. Although the live music ended at 11pm, the piped music in the bar was turned up and continued until 1.30 am in spite of a supposed 1am closing time. There was also a fight that occurred downstairs which was essentially 8 feet from our bed (through walls). The language and noise was horrendous. On check out I talked to the person who claimed she was management and she denied any of the noise or disturbances ever happened. No apology and essentially saying I was lying. The lack of respect, accountability or professionalism from the hotel staff was astounding. The description of a charming, comfortable and welcoming hotel is far from what we experienced.
