Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed all of it, great staff and the hotel has alot of character

4/10 Regular

Hotel is very dated. Chargeable parking which you have to validate so you don't get fined which is very strange given the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Bedroom carpet was pretty dingy looking. Bed had hair in it. There was blood on the bathroom floor meaning it hadn't been cleaned between guests. Left after one night. Cheap hotel but ultimately pretty gross.

Staff, great, breakfast was nice and value for money. The place needs some TLC but this is reflected in the price. Would I stay here again? Yes I would.

Nice, convenient, close to Alton Towers, a good affordable base

Extremely good value stay. The pool was great, the room size impressive, and the staff consistently helpful and kind, even while juggling multiple roles.Refurbishment and cleaning need more attention. There was no chef in the bar so no hot food available, and breakfast was very basic with limited choice. Plug access near the beds could also be improved.

The room was awful, hairs in the bed. Dead bugs all over the bathroom and bedroom floor. Awful state, some form of leak. Something in the bath I couldn’t eve say what it was.

the room was tidy, we had everything we could have wanted, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the bar was fantastic (shout out to the man running it who we had a wonderful chat with, even put music on for us and kept the lines of the pints we were drinking on after close so we could have another drink! what a pub landlord!) i have absolutely no complaints - for the price, it was incredibly good value!

Although the property required updating and attention, the staff were very helpful and caring. My mum took ill during our stay and the staff were amazing and helpful. A great team in a hotel with so much potential and quiet surroundings. Very peaceful 😌

It is a bit of a shambles really. Very old rooms. Our room smelled very musty/ damp. Staff on arrival helpful. Staff when leaving he was more interested on something on his phone. For us it was a poor choice and won't stay again . Didn't have breakfast.

For the price I paid I wasn’t expecting it to be any good but that was not the case. Room was clean and tidy, comfy bed and a little balcony. The only issue I had was the shower, it was tiny I could barely lift my arms up, but that wouldn’t stop me from going back again. Friendly staff and the breakfast absolutely gorgeous so tasty and cooked fresh I would recommend 100% and I will be back.

We were really happy with our stay given the price we paid. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Amenities great with pool, sauna, gym etc for extra £10. Good pub and pool tables. With a bit of a clean and decorate this place could be amazing. The ballroom was very glam and I loved the old leather sofas everywhere. Alton towers 20 minutes away.

Excellent value for money and what the place lacked in terms of maintenance and upkeep is more than made up for in the range of facilities and friendliness of staff. It’s a huge place to upkeep and would likely swallow £1m to fully renovate and refurbish …so doubtless the owners are hoping for a big lotto win like the rest of us.

The tv in the room didnt work and they don't do food had to order a takeaway. Nice pub next door. Just need a refurbishment and food putting on. It could be a really nice hotel once the work has been done.
