Our experience at the hotel significantly impacted what was otherwise an amazing trip to Rangiroa. First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the staff, they were warm, friendly, and provided excellent service. Our issue lies not with them, but with the condition of the accommodations, which is something the property’s investor or management needs to seriously address.
We stayed in a beach bungalow, which felt extremely outdated, as if nothing had been updated in decades. The furniture, mattress, and bedding were worn and uncomfortable. The bathroom had a persistent humidity issue and an unpleasant odor, likely from years of use without renovation.
While we understand the hotel is set in a natural environment, the level of pests inside the room was unacceptable, especially for a property charging $500 per night. We encountered cockroaches, ants on countertop and sofa, and never-ending number of mosquitoes inside the room. Despite using repellents, I woke up with new bites each morning. We later heard from other guests staying in beach bungalows that they experienced similar issues.
I read the reviews after our stays and found comments from years ago mentioning the exact same problems, which makes it clear that management is aware but has chosen not to make necessary improvements. Perhaps we were unlucky to book the beach bungalow, as other room types appeared newer and better maintained.
If you must stay at this hotel, do not stay in the beach bungalows.
