Please is old but bed room were clean don’t get a room right on the street or you’ll hear golf carts and traffic 24/7 place is probably to most affordable hotel in Avalon. There are maybe 2 more but they are poor and very disappointing

The hotel was great. The staff was nice and friendly and very out well, though. The hotel was going through some Wi-Fi renovations. Wife, I was limited if that at best, but everything else was great again. The staff was helpful. Front desk lady was excellent and very helpful. Kind, I would definitely come back. Thank you so much for your help and support and keeping me comfortable

My Wife and I enjoyed our 2 night stay. The Hotel is under new ownership recently. I spoke to the new owner prior to arrival and had a discussions on recent and future improvements. The room was spacious and very clean. Had a balcony and view of ocean. Was nice to have coffee on balcony in morning and watch the town start to get busy, lots of golf carts. We stayed in room 202. Catalina is built on hillside, very steep in areas. Hotel is easy walking distance from the boat docks and gradual incline to get there, not to steep. My wife and I both agree we would stay here again!!

The room was ok… They are under new management so there was no cable TV in the room. I gas ordered a room with a king sized bed and balcony but received a room with a queen sized bed. We weren’t in the room a lot but it would have been nice to have known these things prior to checking in.

Uphill walk to the hotel followed by NO ELEVATOR. "No elevator" was not disclosed. Person in party had arthritis knees and desk clerk was cheerfully unsympathetic. No warning about salt water toilets turning your pee dark. Dark stains on the foot of the mattress. Sheets may not have been washed. Common luggage storage closet was a chaotic melee after check-out + had to move someone's underwear off my luggage.

It was the most awful experience I have ever had checking into a hotel. Showed up to learn hotel overbooked and had no plan for accommodating my famiky. Several other families were in the same situation. Had to wait hours and keep reminding manager about him needed to take care of the issue. We were sent to another hotel and they had no record of us needing to be transferred to their hotel. It was an utter disaster. They were not equipped.

Overall, the hotel was great. It was a budget hotel for the area, and exceeded quality in terms to its price. The workers were very helpful, and very accommodating. This hotel seems to have JUST switched management and name. It was the casa mariquita, and now is the casa Avalon. Many of the negative reviews blow this issue WAY Out of proportion. The previous hotel had a 8.2/10 on hotels.com. Since they are switching, the cable doesn’t work at all (who uses that anyways nowadays), and the WiFi was very spotty, but they’re working on it apparently. The location is a great as it’s just a street up from the main area of town. The water pressure in the shower was AWESOME and got hot quick, same with the sink. The AC blows nice and cold and the bed itself is relatively firm, which I like, and the pillows were okay, standard hotel pillows. Overall, my girlfriends and I two night stay was great. For a budget hotel this was excellent, and we had 0 problems. Would definitely stay here again.

Ok the hotel’s listing in your service this is a beach front property with a rare beach bar. Um, it’s a 1/4 mile hike up the hill from the beach. Also, after checking in, I was informed my local TV wasn’t working and it was like that in all the rooms. When I wake I like catching some news and then again at bedtime. I called the owner after some back forth, he offered me a shirt for my inconvenience. I did end up with $25 off. There aren’t any coffee makers in the rooms. They do have one in the office and oatmeal packets for your continental breakfast. The owner told me that they bought the hotel in July and haven’t gotten the TVs running yet, in three months. I did see a notice that they actually took over in January. If they are going to have property deficits like that and misleading location listings it really needs to be address. The room for what it was, it was a clean, basic, no frills room. It quiet, I couldn’t hear the golf carts or road noise. My view was of the room across the hall. Before check out, I was going to shower, but no water. I will say, it wasn’t their fault because a main water line broke down the street, but I felt it was the end indicative of my stay there.

Nice, quiet, clean, and spacious room. Amiable and helpful staff. Great view of the ocean from our room. No elevator, so if you’re not able to climb stairs ask for a lower level room. Great experience for us overall.
