The food was very good (ham was delicious!) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub had a nice friendly feel, too. Plenty of on site parking and it felt clean. The only minor quibble was the tv screen in our room was abs tiny (small). Overall, was good value.

A great little hotel, the whole property including the staff were very warm and inviting. It was relaxing and you’re made to feel like a local. The food was delicious and if you want a snack I would highly recommend the pickled onion rings with warm honey…. Amazing!!

This was my third visit over a two years and for my purpose and convenience this is a perfectly comfortable location to stay. Remember you are staying in a good old English country pub not a five star luxury hotel. The accommodation is well maintained the bedrooms are of a good size and comfortable. The now days expected tea/coffee making facilities along with hairdryer and TV are all here. Though if any criticism the televisions are quite small. Staff are always friendly and service in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner very good. Choice on menus for both sittings are very good the quality of food is very good and the portions are very generous. Bar? well naturally goes with out saying you are in a Pub so a well choice stacked range of Beers Wines and Spirits, A range of coffees and Tea also available on bar service. No dogs in the bar please is a house rule. For my visit to the area I find this pub most convenient and good value for money, ideal for a one to three night stop-over such as my stays. Good location to visit the Wolds - Lincoln and the collection of National Trust visitor sites amongst others in the area. RAF East Kirkby Airfield Museum and the Battle of Britain Memorial flight (or take the children in the holidays to watch the RAF performing their skills) at RAF Coningsby both locations are just minutes away by car. So another great stay for me.

Tradition English Pub, Good selection of Drinks and Food. The rooms are not new, as you would expect in a building of this age, but comfortable and clean. Staff and Landlord very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The Bar / Lounge is traditional English countryside decor, spacious and comfortable. This is a yearly trip for me, so I will definitely be staying here next year.

A very pleasant stay, staff were very friendly & the food was excellent. lovely bar area & nice quiet rooms of good size. Overall a good experience, just 2 little niggles. The restaurant could have a black pepper mill as a choice, & the room TV's could be slightly larger. My compliments though.

Nice stay but needs a bit of a refresh

Very comfy bed and nice staff. We found the room to be very dusty, mainly in the bathroom. It looked as though it could have all done with a wipe down, also in the hallway upstairs needed a clean. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal, lovely well cooked food, the portions were huge. Neither of us could finish our meal which felt a bit of a waste. Well done to the chef but not everyone can eat the massive plates of food.

I used the Red Lion for a one night stay after attending an event in nearby East Kirkby. This is a lovely character property that feels nice and rural but is well connected by road. The room was a good size, with a 3 seater sofa, desk and chair and two chairs and small table by the window in addition to the double bed. Also, plenty of storage and a lovely view out over the garden. The bathroom could have done with a bit of TLC and the very small wall-mounted TV might have been an irritation for a longer stay (but I didn't really need it). And the enormous breakfast was delicious and certainly set me up for the day.

Stayed here one night to visit Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre, which is really close by Great friendly pub. food was great wth generous portions (Steak & Ale pie highly recommended!) Breakfast was great with local produce. Very friendly service and good mid week atmosphere Room was very good size with nice seating area as well as large bed and desk great location

Has potential to be better!

This has the potential to be so much better. It needs some money spending on it and looks as though it was lovely ‘back in the day’. The staff are friendly & helpful, the people running it are pleasant enough. I’m guessing it’s brewery owned & they don’t want to spend money on it? Also, the locals seem to be happy with it. Menu very standard pub with limited vegetarian options. Food was in generous portions but was very ‘greasy cafe style’. The bathroom was extremely cold due to having no form of heating in, the room was big with 1 radiator which was insufficient for the size of the room. It needs painting, new carpet & updating a little. The sash windows could do with a vacuum to get the dead bugs out and the silicon around the shower block could do with redoing to get rid of thick black mould. 1 sachet of normal coffee with 6 decaf! It was tidy, but the bed was uncomfortable & I wasn’t very rested the next day. I feel it’s barely scraping at the 3 star ratings!
