At check in, the older woman was looking at my license saying it was not me. Then she says she has to charge me more than originally told. My children and I were very tired, just wanted to hurry and get the room key. Room 115. Couldn’t find it. Finally found it next to a mechanical closet and tossed out sitting chair. Once inside, we noticed the door only had a bottom lock where I just opened with my key. There was no safety latches. No deadbolt. We did not feel safe. The TV was broken. The windows were barred. My husband decided to talk to the older lady to see if there was another room. The older lady said no one has complained about not having a deadbolt and safety latches. She degraded my husband by saying if you don’t understand, the housekeeper speaks Spanish. My husband expressed we do not feel safe, The older lady said you can find someplace else and I’ll offer refund. So we left the room with our belongings, went to get our refund. The old lady denied ever offering a refund. Then proceeded to charge me for the second night, even though it was a separate booking. At check in, she said I would have to come back tomorrow and register the second separate booking, but proceeded to charge me, even though we are leaving. She said that we can take it up with our bank. I would never recommend this place to anyone.Very sheisty, degrading, untrusting of people and very aggressive old lady. We ended up staying at Best Western Ventura Pier. Would highly recommend them.
