Shower cubicle was dirty glass covered in soap scum. Bin didn't have a bin liner and had mouldy remnants of rubbish in the bottom. Booked for 2 guests only 1 towel and no hand towel.

This place has been transformed from a house into a 10 room guest house but with virtually no health and safety measures in place or faulty/unusable ones. The rooms, themselves, are ok but small but, again, no PAT Testing done, no fire exits highlighted etc. The showers are filthy and poorly maintained (more water comes out of the hose than reaches the head). All in all avoid at all costs. Fire doors are wedged open and the only fire blanket is very high up.

It was worse place ive ever stayed in . So dated ,not clean , holes in the bed sheets , sticky stuff on carpet. Shared bathroom was gross and smelt like smoke . Noisy at night from other rooms so got no sleep.

I stayed here for one night over the weekend, and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. The sofa in my room was completely unusable — it was basically just wood with no proper cushioning, making it impossible to sit on. It definitely needs replacing. To make matters worse, its awkward placement meant I accidentally got my foot caught on the corner, which hurt badly. The hotel is located right on a main road, so it was noisy throughout both the day and night, making it difficult to relax or sleep. The curtains had large, noticeable stains, and the whole property felt quite dark and unwelcoming. The bathroom was small, not very clean, and below the standard I’d expect for an average hotel. Overall, it felt more like a large, basic lodging facility with multiple rooms for rent rather than a place designed for guests to enjoy their stay or vacation. I would not recommend this property unless significant improvements are made or prices charged are very lower than the market and you are on a tight budget, as otherwise it's not worth it.

Our experience with this Airbnb was incredibly disappointing and resulted in a complete waste of our booking fee. We booked this property for a planned trip, with an estimated arrival time slightly before midnight. Upon calling the host to inform them of our late arrival, we were met with an unwelcoming and inflexible response. We were told that the check-in cutoff was strictly 10 PM, a policy that was nowhere clearly stated in the listing description or house rules. The host expressed clear dissatisfaction with our arrival time, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Given the late hour and the host's unaccommodating attitude, we felt we had no choice but to forgo our booking and return home. Cancelling at that point was not a viable option, resulting in a total loss of our booking fee and significant inconvenience. While we understand hosts may have preferred check-in times, this specific 10 PM limitation should have been clearly and prominently displayed in the listing. The lack of transparency regarding this policy is unacceptable. Furthermore, the host's communication was far from courteous, adding to our frustration. We strongly advise potential guests to inquire about late check-in policies before booking this property. The lack of clear communication and the host's inflexibility made this a truly terrible experience. We would not recommend this listing to anyone.

Could be advertised more clearly. Yes, it doesn't have a reception, yes you need to contact the guest house to be able to collect your key. I messaged the property on the app with no response. I called the number provided on the app, no response. This meant I had to drive the property despite not needing to be there until much later. Was met by a very polite host after both door bells not working and calling one of the numbers on the door, was directed to my room to collect my key, all sorted. Room smelt damp, I later worked out this was the smell of the linin. Fortunately I was very tired so this didn't worry me too much. The towel provided also had an unusual odour and texture to it. Could be a very nice guest house with a little more care. Wouldn't book again.

Big mistake, this facility should have been renovated 10 years ago. I do understand why they have a “ no refund on cancellation policy “ . Dirty, mould in bathroom, carpet that “sticks” to your feet, old garbage in closet from former guest. Room smelled of stale old beer. Damp bed liner and a thin chap foam mattress with no support.

Does what you want

When you book a room like this you want to sleep, wash and go. The Clift Guest House is clean, the beds were good, our reception was helpful and polite. It's close to some decent eating places (and the football ground - great to hear a crowd!). I would rebook if I had the same requirements

The reception staff was friendly and showed us to our room. The rooms are quite small with low ceilings. There was a kettle in the room and access to a kitchen. Although there wasn’t a lot of cutlery and utensils. The furniture wasn’t too bad, but the condition of the desk was not great. It was a good stay but I think the lack of free parking and the sounds from the main road made it hard to relax.
