First, the staff is top notch. The young ladies from Eastern Europe who staff the front desk and housekeeping are polite, courteous, attentive, professional, and classy. It is a sadly expected dichotomy to see an massively overweight and tattooed American lady sprawled on the sidewalk outside the lobby yelling profanities at the top of her lungs to her "friends," while at the same time enjoying a conversation with the elegant young ladies working the front desk.
The location is also excellent, very close to the beach and boardwalk and within walking distance to the amusement parks at the southern end of the boardwalk. There are a number of nearby restaurants, and it's an easy 7 to 9 minute drive to the mainland to a major grocery store (Food Lion). The hotel does not have a gym, but a Planet Fitness is located just across highway 50 (Ocean Gateway) from the Food Lion, so just a 5 to 6 minute drive at 0600.
Beyond the staff and location, there is not much positive to write about. The hotel's condition, the bathrooms, etc., are all below average.
As far as Ocean City itself: great beach and nice swimming, some surf that kids can bodyboard on, plenty of people watching...see my first paragraph. We'll likely visit again, but I think we'll first spend some time at the Rehobeth Beach/Dewey Beach area in Delaware to check that area out.
