Very good service, easy to rent snorkeling equipment from the resort itself. No air condition in the room and cold water showers lent an air of authenticity to the place, and hearing the waves when falling asleep was awesome. The restaurant was good, and there was a nice “spa on the beach” concept which we enjoyed. The beach is only available at low tide, and the sunbeds were all in the shade, but these were details in what was overall a really nice stay!

it’s a lovely property, with a very relaxed feel - Nice food options, spa and water activities all available on site. The Only real challenge is the mosiquitos at late afternoon/early evening - but there are plenty of spray (just didn’t work for me).

Beautiful but bare bones and rustic resort in Koh Lipe. Wonderful staff and dining options. No Air Conditioning or hot showers made it challenging though. The beach area is also crowded and very loud because of long tail boat traffic.

The food, staff and location were great. The rooms though were very hot and they need to put in proper ceiling fans as the ones they have do not get the job done. Also, some wi-fi in the rooms would be good.

Rustic and authentic castaway

Rustic it certainly is. Prime location on sunrise beach, and close walking distance to everything. We had a beach breezy which was worth it. If you're ok with no pool and no AC then this is exactly as you'd expect as a castaway

We liked the dining and communal area which always had a refreshing breeze. The staff were super-attentive and the menu for food and drink was really good value. The view over the ocean with its blue and jade colours and traditional sailing boats is to die for and the memory will carry me through the cold European winter. Our cabin was set back from the sea which was a shame and the fan was really needed. Remember to take insect repellent with you, as the mosquitoes were ready to sting.

A cool place with great staff.

Cabins were clean and tidy on arrival, the staff were also super helpful, probably the best service we received in Thailand. The cafe on the beachfront was really nice, proper tasty food and drinks. Great location, 5 minute walk to Walking street and right on the beach. When we booked this initially our thought was ‘how bad can it be without AC’ for a few nights. For us, it was a bit unbearable, really struggled to sleep while we were here, I can’t hold that against Castaways as we knew before we booked but it’s something you need to consider. On the final day there was a whole bunch of ants that had invaded toilet and I woke up covered in bites that weren’t from mosquitos, not sure what they were but wasn’t very nice. After noticing the bites we took the bed covers up to check for bed bugs and it was kinda gross, not sure how often they change the mattress topper sheet underneath.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the resort. Positives for me was that it was quiet/peacful, there were plenty of helpful and friendly staff and it was a good location. I enjoyed waking up early and listening to the birds sing. The immediate beach area is nice too although I wish there were less boats there for safety reasons. I thought the restaurant and bar was very good, reasonably priced with lots of options. Would prefer them to have some healthy breakfast options like granola and smoothie bowls. The only option was muesli which wasn’t very nice. Unfortunately there are a few things you should be aware of if you book here. There is no hot water, no aircon (not an issue for me as it was breezy), no WiFi and the mobile signal is very poor. Also, it’s quite dark on the ground floor in the cabins, so I actually had difficulty shaving as my vision is not the best. The stairs is a tiny bit steep and the steps are small if you have mobility issues, just something to be aware of.

Dejligt roligt sted ved vandet. Meget nede på jorden sted. Vær opmærksom på at der absolut ingen strand er og ingen liggestole. Ok sted at snorkle når alle longboat er ude på tur. Dejlig rummelig hyttet, fint med ventilator i loftet (der er ingen aircondition). Fin restaurant med godt Menukort, morgenmaden er ikke så spændende. Meget søde og hjælpsom personale.

Fint, men lyhört och myggor. Ej prisvärt.

Mysig och ”instagram friendly” resort med djungel-vibe. Tyvärr blev sömnen lidande. Bungalows har ingen AC (vilket vi missade när vi bokade) men fick en extra fläkt som hjälpte lite. Det är lyhört och på kvällen hörs både hundar och mopeder. På morgonen väcks man 4:30 av tuppar och andra fåglar. Öronproppar hjälper lite. Sköna sängar med myggskydd vilket behövs då växtligheten utanför lockar mycket mygg. Vi använde inte hängmattorna på altanen pga detta. Man kunde dock få myggspray i receptionen. Restaurangen är mysig med fin soluppgång och skön vind på kvällen. Servicen är ok men många pratar dålig engelska. Frukosten är ok, ingår inte. Vi bodde på två andra resorts på ön som var bättre och billigare.

Hvis man har været på Koh Tao for 20 år siden, ja så er der ramt plet med Castaway. Ingen aircondition, ingen køleskab, ingen frisk drikkevand og koldt vand i hanen. Ingen strand. Bar lukker 2245, og de påbegynder afrydning kl 2200. Ingen afhentning ved færge/speedbåd. Alt i alt ringe

Fed strand men mange longtailboats der larmer, god restaurant og vibes på hotellet. Sødt personale. Bungalow og inventar i dårlig stand, dårlig seng, vand fra bruser løber direkte ud af huset ned på jorden, ikke særlig miljøvenligt. Ventilation/fan kunne kun blæse i bestemt retninger, så man fik kun intervaller med luft om natten, derfor ekstremt varmt. Men ellers virkelig dejligt hotel med lækre udendørs faciliteter og restaurant / chill område (hippie vibes) - bedste bananpandekager og coconut iced latte!
