The hotel is nicely located very close the sea (150m) and close enough the many local bars and restaurants but not so close that noise would be an issue. There was parking at the hotel and on-street parking was also available. The owner was a great chap. There had been a mix up with my arrival time (nobody on reception) but when I called the help line the owner came within a few minutes and was really helpful. I had a sea view which was great and the room was clean and to a good standard. Tea and coffee making facility plus some biscuits. This was nice. Bathroom was good and clean.

Seaview room was lovely. Four poster bed, dressing gowns and veey comfortable bed. Fridge in room was very useful. We didn't try the breakfasts as we were visiting lots of family. Couldn't find usual TV channels but found the bionic woman, but that brought back memories. 😂 Great location.

I'm delighted that I found the Lemonfield Hotel and will make it my first choice for future visits to Sunderland. I arrived on the eve of Storm Boelo to a warm welcome and a warm, cosy room. The gentleman who greeted me and showed me around was very polite and helpful. He explained that when a booking is made through Hotels.com, the properties do not get to see any information about the guests, and had he known that I was travelling alone he would have made sure that the room was laid out as a double rather than two singles. It didn't matter on this occasion as I was only staying for one night, and the space between the beds was handy for my evening stretching and my morning workout routine. I feel bad that I don't remember the chap's name. I want to say it was Yav (?) I'd had a long week with a lot of travelling so my memory didn't retain this important information. But he was great, as was the property and everything about my stay :)

Good spot close to beach and some restaurants and shops (GOA Indian is Good) Clean etc.. Strange noise in the morning think it was someone running a bath for 15mins also had to ring to check-in and told key was behind plant pot.

We only stayed overnight and didn’t have breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable and the receptionist was friendly. We were in a ground floor room so didn’t see the upper parts of the hotel, I’m not sure an exceptional rating truly reflects this hotel as it really needs some maintenance. It was cheap so I think the price fairly reflected what we got.
