We had a mixed experience at The Island Gold Coast.
The first impressions weren’t great. Whilst the reception area was clean and the receptionist very smart and helpful, the decor was tired and outdated. The exterior looked more like a shabby 2-star.
After a swift check-in we took the lift to our floor. The lift was disgusting - the doors were scratched and dirty, as was the interior of the lift, and the floor was damaged and dirty. At our floor the corridor was unpleasant with old single glazed windows and glue-down carpet tiles.
The hotel room was also a mix - the bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. Some of the furniture was modern and there were good toiletries and coffee/tea provided. However, the carpet tiles again looked and felt unclean, the shower handle was broken, the fridge appeared to be very old, the balcony doors were loose and let outside noise into the room.
Overall, we didn’t enjoy our stay here. We thought it was very over-priced and overrated.
