The hotel must have been 'Grand" at some point but is a little run down now. The upholstery on chairs in the room is worn out and stained, the bathroom door is showing water damage at the bottom, no hand towel, They charge a deposit for hair dryer, TV remote and other stuff. That alone tells you about their customers. But the worst of all is the smell in the room, it was a strong chemical smell that reminded me of what you put inside the toilet so it cleans with every flush. I asked if they fumigated the room and they said no, then I found out there was one of those toilet cleaners hang OUTSIDE of the tank, maybe to 'deodorize' the place, probably to cover other smells. But there are other ways to make a room smell nice that aren't disgusting and make people sneeze. And let me add my sense of smell is much less sharp than your average person, so that tells me the odor was very strong.
Fortunately, there was sliding door to a balcony and leaving that opened let some of the smell out. The view of the pool was nice, but was disappointed to learn that the gym was not functional or open, which is not disclosed on the hotel website.
