What a treat to stay at Beit Al Baraka in Umm Qais. My only regret is that we did not stay for 2 nights. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious Bathroom was fully equipped. Patio was lovely for relaxing in and for eating breakfast surrounded by citrus trees and with a view over the Jordan Valley. And the breakfast...sumptuous with the produce of the region. We had pitas and local honey, jam from local fruits, goat butter, goat cheese, goat yogurt, veggies and, my all-time favourite, shakshuka. What a feast. A fantastic starting point for a day of exploring the ruins or going on a jaunt down to the Valley ( if you don't mind the checkpoints). We were directed to eat dinner at the Romero Group restaurant in the ruins where we had the incomparable Chicken Umm Qais (rest of the menu is quite westernized). That is still a highlight of my menu choices. Next time I will stay for longer!
