Excellent
We only stayed 1 night and the never ate in the hotel as we were told about the curry house across the road which was very good . We wanted a place to be near Godmanchester , it was a bit further than we wanted but I can recommend the Red Lion for cleanness

Comfortable stay in lovely village
Really generous size rooms. Great location in the middle of the village but with the rooms set back from the road so nice and quiet. Great dog friendly pub with good food and selection of drinks

Nice rooms with good en-suite facilities - clean and warm (-5 centigrade outside) - proper old fashioned bar with good selection of drinks.

This is a nice, comfortable, clean, convenient place to stay, close to dining options with a fine pub on the property. We like to stay here while visiting family in the area. Cheers!

A very modern and comfortable accommodation. Good value. Dinner in the hotel is good with a cheery atmosphere.

Stayed for 3 nights, the room was pleasant, warm and quiet, I didn't eat in the pub itself as I felt the atmosphere a little unwelcoming, however they do offer a good range of real ales!

decent stay
had a good stay at the red Lion, the rooms were comfy with everything you need. If we were being being picky i think the cleaning could have been better. parking is ok and the pub is really nice in a village with a few pubs and restaurants.

A little gem
We are so pleased to have discovered this little gem. From arrival at this charming village pub, the staff (and locals) were friendly and helpful, happy to give local info (restaurants, buses etc). We were shown our room which was one of 4 terraced bungalows, purpose built at the bottom of the pub garden so away from the pub, secluded with shrubbery and hedge and quiet. Perfectly adequately sized for 2 people, furniture of good quality. A lovely comfy super king size bed with crisp cotton linen. A wet room which was well with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Underfloor heating and heated towel rail ensured this was toasty warm - in fact we turned them off in the end. Tea/coffee tray well stocked and we loved the tiny individual glass bottles of milk, so much nicer than those little single use plastic milk pots. The stars of the show though really are the pub staff - all so friendly and helpful. We would recommend eating in the pub, good value, hot food, would also recommend Indian Ocean restaurant opposite. Breakfast is not available at the pub but there is a little coffee shop opposite and a Tesco express so not an issue for us. Buses into Cambridge every 40 minutes from opposite side of the road. We would definitely recommend to other travellers and will return ourselves.

Lovely property in a quiet suburb of Cambridge with easy bus access into the city. A shame there were no breakfast facilities

Nice pub stay in a nice village
The accommodation was really nice, large room with a large shower ensuite. The carpet had quite a few mark's on it but apart from that it was nice and clean. The pub is nice and there's plenty of places to eat in Histon. Please note the pub doesn't do breakfast, but there are a dew places to get breakfast. We would definitely stay again, it's a nice place and a quaint village.

we needed better info on the velux window system as the room was very warm in the evening ie unable to understand the wall mounted control having said that ,an enjoyable stay.

In need of a deep clean
Carpets and shower room would benefit from a deep clean and the cracks in the walls a fill and paint. Otherwise a decent room to stay in whilst visiting family.

Smart and tidy room with polite staff
Very nice stay, really warm welcome from pub staff. Neat, tidy, fairly modern and well kept room. I arrived fairly late and was too tired to sit in the pub for a drink but I'd have really liked to sit and have a drink as it looked super interesting.

Shame about the carpet.
Everything was very nice, we had everything we needed. Not sure if room not used for a while as a few cobwebs about but main let down was the state of the carpet in the room. A few patches of spillage and I think a small amount of sick on the carpet. Carpet wash wouldn’t go a miss.

4/10 Fair

Was an ok stay overall. Checking in experience was poor as kept waiting and then felt like I was interrupting the staff. No information about where to eat and was just told where my room was. Would have been nice to be taken there as hasn’t stayed before. Went to eat in the pub that night but table seating limited and people had tables reserved even though they weren’t there. Rooms were very nice and well spaced out so ordered food elsewhere. Might be worth considering an online check in for the rooms so there’s no need to interact with staff in future.
