Was told restaurant closed at 3. Arrived at 2, was told it was closed all week. No other place to eat. Went to "grocery" across street, shelves were almost bare. Ended up eating trail mix and candy, what Ihad in my car, for dinner. TV did not work -- only about 9 channels, snowy and terrible reception, unwatchable. Front desk clerk tried to fix it but couldn't, no maintenance person working. Found out the next morning, with wet hair, hair dryer also did not work.
Hotel looks old and dated outside, had to walk up stairs and they were uneven, almost tripped twice. Room was large, very roomy, clean. Very quiet, but there were only a handful of guests since Carlsbad Caverns was closed due to the shutdown -- certainly not their fault, but disappointing, as it was my only reason for staying there. Front desk staff was very nice, but unable to do anything to resolve the problems.
