"I had an ocean view suite which was excellent and spacious. The staff was very helpful and friendly, JJ and Michael lifeguards between building 9 and 11 and Marvin concierge for building 10 were amazing. Grounds and room very clean, however no elevators 3rd floor wasn’t bad but if stairs are trouble for you request 1st floor. No ice machines anywhere so if you need ice your at the mercy of the pool bars which close at 5pm or have to walk it to the lobby before the last bar closes at 1am. Food wise if you miss breakfast that ends at 11:00, you hav no options besides the coffee bar with limited pickings until 12:30/1:00. Once the pool grill closes at 5pm you have nothing until dinner which is from 6-10pm but what they don’t inform you of is the last seating is at 9:30. If you’re looking for lively nighttime activities this isn’t the place. The entertainment team does shows nightly that end early and the Rasta Bar/club was never crowded open till 1am. Clean rooms/grounds, great beach, food was meh and lack of availability of food and drinks was a big downfall."

"During our 5-day stay, the toilet in our room clogged every single time it was used. This was not a one-time inconvenience—we had to call maintenance more than seven times to address the issue. Despite repeated visits, the problem was never permanently resolved. Eventually, we were forced to stop using the restroom in our room altogether and rely on public restrooms throughout the resort. This situation was not only unacceptable but extremely inconvenient. What made this experience even more concerning is that I was traveling with an 83-year-old senior with limited mobility who relies on a scooter. Having to leave the room multiple times a day to find a usable restroom caused her significant stress and discomfort. This is not the level of care or accommodation we expected. I made numerous calls to report the issue and requested to speak with a manager. Unfortunately: * I never received a callback * I was not offered a room change * No proactive effort was made to resolve the situation in a meaningful way At checkout, I finally spoke with a manager named Natoya, who acknowledged seeing the complaints and maintenance requests but stated she was unsure why no action—such as moving us to another room—was taken. This lack of accountability and follow-through is extremely disappointing. Overall, this experience fell far below expectations, especially for a resort of this caliber. Basic room functionality and guest care should never be compromised, particularly when vulnerable"

"The rooms need to be renovated, the floors especially need to be replaced. I would not consider staying for more than one night."

"Travelled with my bestie and our 2 boys (11y) to Riu Negril for 4 days. Had a great trip. Room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Beach was 8/10 had seaweed and seen a stingray one day. Food was 7/10 and drinks were 5/10 as they were watered down. Entertainment was excellent and staff remembered our names. Shout out to Shaq, Quban, Shin Shin (sp?) and the photographer, Alex. Will be back. "

"The food was great! The staff was friendly and polite. There are some areas that can use some attention (we had a few things in our room that suffered from wear and tear), but by no means a deal breaker. The entertainment was great, and there is a lot to do without leaving the resort. We did though, and enjoyed every minute. We will go back and will most likely stay at the Riu. Lovely vacation!!"
