The Boat is a delightful traditional village pub/hotel, next to the Strathspey railway station. I always stay there when I am in the Cairngorms.
It can be busy and lively, but there is always space in the dining room for guests.
Staff are friendly.
I wish there was a lift/elevator, but understand the limitations of an old building
Located at the end of a quiet (but well sign-posted) lane, about a 3-minute drive off the B9102 and 2 minutes away from the Cardhu distillery, this country house turned B & B is flanked by farmland, a quiet tucked-away church, and views of whiskey country galore. The host, David, welcomes his arriving guests with charm and enthusiasm that belies the efforts it must to run such a well-ordered, comfortable home away from home. Our room (The Glenlivet), spacious and immaculately clean, boasted a...
We stayed three nights at the Hotel Square in Tomintoul. Although this is an older facility which could use a few updates to rugs, curtains, etc., we were very happy there. The hotel is clean, beds are super comfortable and the rooms are large and supplied with everything we needed. Breakfast was very good! Most importantly, the staff was friendly and helpful, providing great service. We had a lovely stay!
The hotel is beautiful. It felt like we stayed in a castle. Nice furniture. Good dinner and breakfast. But what we loved the most was the staff!! Especially Jane. She is an angel and made our stay magical.
The Bunkhouse B&B is a great location if you are visiting the Speyside area. The owner is friendly and was very helpful and the breakfast was great.
Be sure to check out the walking trail in back of the B&B along the Spey river.
We loved the quaintness of the hotel and surrounding community of Archiestown. We were greeted by a very friendly staff member & loved the small boutique atmosphere. Both dinner & breakfast had lovely presentation & were quite good.
Loved it! High quality linens and bath furnishings. Large rooms. Ben was fabulous. He was genuinely kind and accommodating and a hard worker! He popped up everywhere…restaurant and whiskey room. The whiskey room was what drew us here. Enjoyed it immensely the first night. Sadly, due to Covid hitting their staff, they did not have staff for it the 2nd night.
Rebecca at the front desk did an amazing job handling the rude guest in front of me in line to check out. The invoices break out breakfast...
We chose this property for its proximity to the Highland Games we were attending. The property looked nice on the website, and we saw that it had a restaurant, but everything about it exceeded our expectations! The room was beautiful (our compliments to the decorator) and we loved the Victorian high tank toilet. Each course of the meal was more amazing than the last, and from the awards on the wall I suppose we should not have been surprised. Our hosts were exceptional and we loved learning...
This was a perfect guest house for us to use as a home base to enjoy the Speyside area. Food was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly.
Tombeck was nice, roomy, comfortable. Had a large kitchen fully stocked with cookware, oven, stove, kettle, microwave. We liked the large wooden dining table. A great place from which to explore Tomintoul and the Cairngorms. Also has a washing machine and dryer, but no instructions so took some time to figure them out (and the washing machine makes a loud noise and really shakes while running).
