We had a beautiful stay at Riad Mabrouka. Our room was wonderful, the Hamman treatment was great, breakfasts were top notch and the dinner we had on our first night was memorable. The location was very near the parking area which was great for being dropped off by our driver. It was an easy 5 minute walk in the Medina to the Riad from the parking area that was well lit, clean and easy to navigate. The view from the top floor over Fes was amazing. The owners of the Riad told me that they try to hire people who have a good heart rather than people with experience because you can teach service but not heart. They have succeeded beyond their expectations. Ghizlane & Youssef, and the rest of the staff, provided the best service that we’ve ever had at any hotel and they made us feel like family, not customers. I can’t recommend them any higher. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.
This place is an oasis in a busy Fes Medina area. We stayed here for a few days in July with our children. The staff were welcoming and encouraged us to treat it as our own home. We enjoyed the quietnesses of the courtyard with our nightly Moroccan tea ritual. The kids loved Paul and Paulette - the courtyard tortoises. Pictures do not do this place justice. I don't even know where to start. Karim the manager was an angel; so kind, accommodating, and also knowledgeable about Moroccan history. Soumaya was fantastic with our endless requests and questions. And then Adil, Ibrahim, and Ayoub were charming/funny, professional, and hard working. The venue was a dream, the beds comfy, and the food was wonderful. Out of my entire stay in several cities around Morocco, this was my favorite stay because of this outstanding team.
Riad Layla was perfection! The staff was polite and so incredibly helpful. We had never said in/near a medina. They gave us a great map, restaurant recommendations, set us up with the best tour guides and drivers, and accommodated everything we needed. Our stay in Fez was an absolute success because of the wonderful people at Riad Layla. Excellent breakfast, gorgeous views from the roof, lovely rooms. Highly recommend to everyone.
This Riad is lo ated i side the Medina so its advisable to call ahead 20 minutes prior to arrival so a porter can take you and your luggage directly through the maze that is the Fez medina. The hotel can book a private 4 hour tour of the medina with a local guide for $40 Euro and ask if Omar can guide for you. Well worth it! I grew up in Fes. I know traditional. This is traditional/modern. I like the vibe. It’s not “stenciled” over a normal wall. This is true craftsmanship everywhere. The house can be quiet and one feels awkward speaking out loud. But truly amazing. The shades close and darken the room which was amazing for my jet lag when I needed dark.
