Top neighborhoods in St. Petersburg

Downtown St. Petersburg
Downtown St. Petersburg buzzes with creative energy where art lovers and foodies find their happy place. Museums like the Salvador Dalí and the James Museum offer cultural fixes between strolls along the stunning 7-mile waterfront promenade. Catch live music at Jannus Live or take in a show at the elegant Mahaffey Theater while palm trees sway against the Tampa Bay backdrop. The dining scene ranges from upscale waterfront restaurants to casual cafés, with fresh Gulf seafood starring on many menus. Hotels occupy everything from historic Mediterranean Revival buildings to sleek modern towers. Getting around is a breeze with excellent walkability and downtown trolleys circulating every 15 minutes.

Grand Central District
Grand Central District bursts with creative energy as colorful murals splash across converted warehouses housing artist studios and galleries. The scent of craft beer mingles with coffee from indie cafes while live music spills from intimate venues. This vibrant St. Petersburg neighborhood serves as the heart of the city's LGBTQ+ community with rainbow flags fluttering above eclectic boutiques and vintage shops. Diverse dining options range from food trucks to farm-to-table restaurants, with a strong craft brewery presence throughout the area. Getting around is a breeze with high walkability, bike lanes, and readily available public transportation. Accommodations include charming boutique hotels and trendy lofts that showcase the district's artistic character.

Historic Old Northeast
Historic Old Northeast showcases St. Petersburg's architectural heritage with gorgeous 1920s Mediterranean Revival homes and Craftsman bungalows. Brick streets and hexagon block sidewalks create a charming backdrop for leisurely strolls. Waterfront gems like Coffee Pot Bayou and North Shore Park offer scenic paths with Tampa Bay views, perfect for morning walks or sunset picnics. Cozy neighborhood cafes and coffee shops provide casual dining options during daylight hours. While shopping is limited, the area's boutique inns and historic bed & breakfasts deliver authentic charm in converted 1920s homes. Most visitors explore on foot or bike through the flat, tree-lined streets that define this peaceful residential haven.

Historic Kenwood
Historic Kenwood charms visitors with its stunning collection of 1920s Mediterranean Revival and Craftsman bungalows. This St. Petersburg gem offers periodic artist studio tours where you can peek inside creative spaces tucked within beautifully restored homes. The tree-lined streets create natural canopies perfect for leisurely architectural appreciation walks through this living museum of vintage design. Dining options are limited within the residential area, so most visitors venture to nearby Central Avenue for restaurants. Accommodations include charming bed & breakfasts and vacation rentals in historic bungalows with period furnishings. The neighborhood's excellent walkability and peaceful atmosphere make it ideal for travelers seeking authentic local living away from tourist crowds.

Sunshine drenches the pristine Gulf Coast beaches where locals debate whether Clearwater's lively atmosphere trumps Pass-a-Grille's laid-back charm. Downtown St. Petersburg houses world-class museums like the Salvador Dalí collection, where melting clocks meet Florida's bright light. Tampa Bay reveals its magic during sunset sails, with dolphins often providing free entertainment alongside the boat. The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection
"My Husband and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Vinoy Hotel, St. Petersburg Fl. on 8/22/2026. Our luncheon of 20 plus guests was at the Vinoy Golf Club Grill. The Manager and Staff was Excellent. They were attentive, friendly, professional, and went over board to make sure our Event was beautiful and everyone had a wonderful and memorable time. I will forever be grateful to the Hotel for their hospitality from start to finish. Allen and Brenda Spiegler"

"Hotel was so much fun . Great vibe there . Location is great too . I love the bartender Sam that made the cocktails extra special . Cafe downstairs was wonderful . The only downside is the rooms have very little storage and compact . Even with that said I will be returning ."

"La mayoría del “staff” no era bilingüe. Aprendí que eso era sumamente necesario para un trabajo. But it’s ok! I still alive! 😄👍"

"Stay Dates: September 6 – September 10 I checked in on September 6 and stayed through September 10. My check-in time was 3:00 PM, but I didn't arrive until around 9:30 PM. The person at the front desk was professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful. She made the process smooth and stress-free, which I truly appreciated after a long day. I had originally been booked in a room with two beds — not her fault — but since I was exhausted, I checked myself in without making a fuss. The next day, after work, I learned they were going to keep me in the same room. I explained that I preferred something different, and the same staff member said, "Let me see what I can do." She worked her magic again, and within minutes, she walked me upstairs and opened the door to Room 132. As soon as I stepped in, I said, "This is perfect." It was a corner room, away from other guests, quiet, and free from annoying lights shining through the windows. It gave me the peace I needed after long shifts. Final Thoughts: This may not be a five-star hotel, and the rooms could use some remodeling. The neighborhood wasn't bad either. But what made it a five-star experience for me was the staff, the atmosphere, the surroundings, and the people. Because I never forgot where I came from. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Would I stay again? Yes — especially if the same staff member is working the front desk."
