Top neighborhoods in San Antonio

Downtown San Antonio
Explore the heart of San Antonio with top attractions like the Alamo and River Walk, or enjoy kayaking and bicycling to the World Heritage Missions. Discover historic sites, theaters, and shopping at Rivercenter, all easily accessible by public transit.

Southtown
Southtown blends San Antonio's Hispanic heritage with a thriving arts scene. The Blue Star Arts Complex anchors the creative district with galleries and studios hosting monthly First Friday art walks. Victorian mansions line tree-lined streets in the King William Historic District, showcasing stunning 19th-century German-influenced architecture. The neighborhood embraces Mexican-American traditions through cultural celebrations like Dia de los Muertos. Authentic taquerias mix with farm-to-table restaurants along walkable streets with riverside views. Historic bed & breakfasts in restored Victorian homes offer charming accommodations for travelers. The San Antonio River provides a scenic backdrop with paved trails perfect for morning strolls or evening bike rides.

La Cantera District
La Cantera District combines thrills and luxury in San Antonio. Visitors can enjoy roller coasters at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, shop at upscale boutiques, or perfect their swing at La Cantera Golf Club. The limestone architecture and manicured grounds offer a polished escape from downtown. Dining ranges from upscale Tex-Mex to steakhouses, primarily in shopping centers and resorts. Though public transportation is limited, rental cars and ride-sharing services provide easy access. Most guests stay at luxury resorts featuring full-service spas and championship golf courses.

Dignowty Hill
Dignowity Hill charms visitors with its collection of Victorian homes sporting ornate porches and gingerbread trim. This historic San Antonio neighborhood offers a glimpse into 1850s architecture without the tourist crowds. Mature oak trees create cool, shady streets perfect for leisurely walks past well-preserved landmarks. The area maintains its quiet, residential character with few dining spots within its boundaries. Travelers typically stay in converted Victorian bed-and-breakfasts that showcase period details. Getting around requires a car or ride-sharing service, as public transit options are limited in this authentic slice of San Antonio heritage.
Denver Heights
Denver Heights offers a peek into authentic San Antonio living, away from the tourist hustle. This historically African American neighborhood showcases local charm through small parks with mature oak trees and family-owned eateries serving soul food and Mexican cuisine. The Carver Community Cultural Center celebrates the area's rich cultural heritage with community events and performances. Budget-friendly motels and inns make this a smart choice for travelers watching their wallets. While public transit is limited, street parking is plentiful for those with cars. Denver Heights puts you within easy reach of the Alamodome, Alamo, and San Antonio River without the downtown price tag.

Catch live music spilling from doorways in the historic Pearl District, where the old brewery now houses artisan shops and eateries. The Briscoe Western Art Museum tells stories of cowboys and vaqueros through artifacts and paintings. La Villita's arts village occupies one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, where artisans work in historic adobe buildings. For family fun, LEGOLAND Discovery Center and Ripley's Believe It or Not! offer welcome respite from summer heat.

Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk
"Very good"
Spark By Hilton San Antonio Northwest near Six Flags
"Stayed in August everything was good and clean including breakfast"
Hotel Contessa
"Stay was great other than the bar closes way too early! We got back to our hotel at 10:15 and the bar was closed. I understand not closing late on a weeknight, but at least 11:00pm. That's why we chose the hotel because it has such a nice lobby bar. There was a big concert downtown and guests kept walking in disappointed it was closed already. Would have been nice to enjoy a nightcap at the hotel we stayed at. Though we we're able to find the bar open next door at The Westin which you can walk right to on the Riverwalk. They had a nice indoor/outdoor bar."
