Top neighborhoods in Boise

Downtown Boise
Downtown Boise boasts a vibrant cultural center with a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Idaho State Capitol and Egyptian Theatre. Stroll along 8th Street's pedestrian zone, lined with sidewalk cafes, or explore the Basque Block.

North End
Boise's North End invites you to wander tree-lined streets dotted with historic homes and architectural treasures. Grab your hiking boots for Camel's Back Park's panoramic city views or explore Harrison Boulevard's grand 1900s mansions. The Boise Foothills offer wilderness trails just blocks away from charming residential areas, while local cafes and boutique shops provide perfect breaks between adventures. The neighborhood thrives with intimate bistros and farm-to-table restaurants showcasing Idaho's finest ingredients. Stay in historic bed & breakfasts housed in beautifully restored Victorian homes for an authentic experience. Though public transit is limited, the area's designed for walking and biking, with ample street parking for those exploring by car.

Boise Bench
Perched above downtown Boise, The Bench delivers authentic local charm without the tourist hustle. This residential haven offers tree-lined streets, local coffee shops, and diverse international restaurants showcasing the city's multicultural side. Hillcrest Country Club and the historic Boise Depot provide landmark appeal, while the Aquarium of Boise entertains families. Mid-century homes and modest apartment complexes create a laid-back atmosphere with stunning downtown skyline views. Getting around requires a car or rideshare since public transit is limited. Budget-conscious travelers appreciate the affordable dining and accommodation options that cost less than downtown alternatives.

West End
The West End delivers a sweet spot where Boise's laid-back local vibe meets outdoor adventure. Bike the Boise River Greenbelt, float the gentle river current, or chill at Esther Simplot Park with its sprawling lawns. Hip coffee roasters and craft breweries now dot this leafy neighborhood of historic Craftsman homes, creating perfect spots to mingle with locals. Getting around is easiest by foot or bike along tree-lined streets and riverside trails. Stay in charming bed & breakfasts tucked into vintage homes or book a vacation rental for that genuine residential feel. Most spots close early evening, matching the neighborhood's peaceful rhythm and keeping the authentic Boise experience intact.

East End
The East End's tree-lined streets reveal grand Victorian mansions and charming craftsman homes from Boise's early days. You can stroll through the 50-acre Idaho Botanical Garden to admire native high-desert plants or hit the nearby foothills trails for a quick nature escape. The historic Old Idaho Penitentiary offers a fascinating glimpse into the past while the peaceful Boise River Greenbelt provides perfect walking paths. This primarily residential neighborhood offers limited dining options, so plan to venture downtown for meals. Accommodations include historic bed & breakfasts in converted mansions and vacation rentals in craftsman homes. Though public transit is sparse, the area's bike-friendly streets and ample parking make getting around easy.

Boise and related destinations
Between the foothills and the Boise River, a surprising cultural oasis awaits. The Egyptian Theatre hosts everything from indie films to comedy while the Basque Museum celebrates a unique heritage with artifacts and traditional food. Float the river on a summer afternoon, then catch live music at the Knitting Factory or a performance at the Morrison Center. The Idaho Central Arena buzzes with Boise State football energy in fall. Zoo Boise offers intimate animal encounters without big-city crowds. The Greenbelt path connects parks and neighborhoods along eight miles of riverfront, where locals fish, bike, and debate which downtown food hall deserves your appetite first.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Boise Airport by IHG
"Breakfast was excellent. Everything was fresh and the staff kept everything clean, neat and well stocked."
Oxford Suites Boise
"Awesome place to stay at."
The Grove Hotel
"This is a very nice downtown hotel, in a fun part of the city. Easy to walk to many restaurants. Their restaurant is nice and I had room service once which had good service. They will charge $20 per day for parking, but through Expedia you can book a room that includes self parking, but make sure you tell them it’s in your booking and again when you check out or they will add it to your charges."

"Wow great experience. Clean and fresh. Very confusing to find room. Womderful location, great airport shutyle"
Hampton Inn & Suites Boise-Downtown
"Great experience all around. Note - nice pool, no hot tub. Great breakfast AND tea drinkers, the hot water pit is solely for hot water so your tea won’t taste like stale coffee."
SpringHill Suites by Marriott Boise ParkCenter
"Great room! The separate living area with the couch and mini kitchen was AWESOME! The property was very clean. The workout room was great. The pool and hot tub area VERY small and what is with the 10 dollar parking fee?"

"Great stay!"

"Very nice people work here!"
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Boise Towne Square
"This location is undergoing major renovations, and it would have been nice to have been made aware of this when we booked our reservation. Our bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Parking was ok. Breakfast was standard hotel breakfast. I called the morning of our reservation to provide specific requests regarding our room location as I was unable to make those requests when I reserved the room. The woman on the phone was not helpful and unimpressive with her customer service. The young man at the desk when we checked in was kind and helpful."
