Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden exceeded our expectations. The rooms -- with all having an amazing view -- provides a very efficient use of space. The breakfast buffet is outstanding -- offering an array of delicious items. And the service staff was top notch.
And you can't find a better location to the popular attractions. Bus line 840 and 843 is a quick 10-minute trip from the Berchtesgaden train station. And the boat ride and Jennerbahn are 1 and 2 bus stops respectively.

I have stayed at the Goldener Hirsch for the past 30 years The hotel and its staff never fail. Charming and comfortable, it is located in the midst of an active tourist area but absolutely quiet inside and completely safe outside. The staff listen carefully and exceed every request. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Salzburg.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the city if you want to see the city by foot.
Lots of restuarants and pubs nearby as well as sightseeing points of interest.
Staff were great and you can leave cases there should you geet there early of leave well after chek out time.

This is a fantastic place. Has the old world charm and yet with all the amenities inside the room that makes your stay comfortable. The room was very quiet and we had some good view of the town. It's in a historical part of the city (though not in old town) and at a few minutes walking distance from all main attractions , the Mirabell palace and from the start of the Sound of Music tour.
A warm greeting with champagne sure goes a long way in my book. Classy but not fussy describes our delightful check-in experience. A clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed welcomed us upstairs. While the clientelle seemed more interested in Armani rather than Amadeus, the staff stayed cool amid the throng of the Hermes set. A bit beyond our budget, but for a splurge, it was great. The location was perfect, the staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was a good value. I recommend staying on the ground floor if you have American standards (ha) for air conditioning in the summer.
