Annecy Old Town
Annecy Old Town feels like stepping into a fairytale with its stone castle crowning the hillside and medieval Palais de l'Isle floating in turquoise canals. Flower-draped bridges connect pastel-shuttered houses along cobblestone streets where mountain views frame every corner. The car-free historic district invites you to wander past Gothic architecture and discover hidden squares brimming with Alpine charm. Canal-side terraces serve traditional Savoyard fondue while artisan boutiques fill centuries-old buildings. Most attractions sit within a 10-minute walk, making exploration effortless despite the uneven cobblestones. Lake Annecy's crystal waters wait just steps away, offering the perfect backdrop to this perfectly preserved medieval gem.

Novel
Novel offers a peaceful retreat from Annecy's tourist bustle, where you'll find tree-lined streets and mountain views instead of crowds. This residential neighborhood lets you live like a local, with morning trips to the boulangerie for fresh pastries. Hiking trails and Lake Annecy's pristine waters are just a short drive away, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who want both adventure and quiet evenings. Accommodations here are mostly vacation homes and gîtes with gardens, giving you space to breathe. A car is essential since public transport is limited, but you'll appreciate the free parking and quick access to Annecy's attractions while enjoying Novel's authentic French suburban charm.

Cran-Gevrier
Cran-Gevrier blends authentic French living with scenic river views and cultural gems. Once industrial, this residential haven now buzzes with art spaces and the interactive La Turbine science center. Stroll along the peaceful Thiou River, discover the leafy Parc des Jardins de l'Europe, or mingle with locals in charming neighborhood markets away from tourist crowds. Family-run bistros serve traditional Savoyard cuisine at reasonable prices compared to central Annecy. Cozy B&Bs and vacation rentals in converted homes offer genuine local experiences. The regular bus service connects you to downtown in just 15-20 minutes, while dedicated bike paths make exploring the waterfront a breeze.

Learn more about Annecy
Wander through the 'Venice of Savoie' where medieval streets and Alpine-fed canals create a fairytale setting that somehow escaped the modern world's notice. Lake Annecy's turquoise waters invite kayaking beneath mountain views that seem almost deliberately arranged for maximum impact. The 14th-century château dominates the old town, while Pont des Amours (Lovers' Bridge) offers views worth sharing on social media or keeping entirely to yourself. After exploring Jardins de l'Europe, settle at a canalside café where locals debate which lakeside beach offers the best swimming. The Animated Film Festival transforms this already magical setting each June, though the real animation happens daily in markets where Reblochon cheese and Alpine honey change hands with minimal fuss.

Novotel Annecy Centre
"Great location, easy walking distance from the old town and the lake. Room was clean and a good size for family of 3. Parking is very tight."
Allobroges Park Hotel
"The hotel manager and front desk representative were extremely helpful to us in resolving an issue related to our reservation. The hotel is located just down the street from the train station, in the old town. This was very convenient for us, as we did not rent a car. The hotel rooms are air conditioned. For the most part it was comfortable, but it did get warm while we were trying to sleep and I think it’s because of the comforter that is used. All over in France in the beds, instead of having a top sheet and a blanket or comforter, there is only a bottom sheet and a comforter. Having the ability to only cover with a top sheet is great when the weather is hot. We bought the breakfast for 14€ daily, and it is a good value. The breakfast had a wide variety and get selection of fruit and cheese. There is also the ability to boil eggs, which was an added bonus. Based on our experience we would stay here again, and highly recommend it."
Campanile Annecy Centre - Gare
"Perfect location by the train/bus station but also close to old town"
Le Pélican
"Our room was good for four people with the exception that the upper floor was quite hot and the air conditioning was capped so that it would not go below 21 degrees C. So even though they advertised air conditioning the room never went below room temperature on the lower floor while the upper floor remained a few degrees warmer. The staff did provide a fan which helped. The metal stairs going to the upper floor were also in an odd location causing my partner to injure his head on them while attempting to make coffee. It seems the layout of the room could have been better. Also, they only provided two coffee pods for four people for the in room coffee maker which seemed a bit stingy. They do provide a water station outside the rooms with water bottles that can be filled which was a nice perk. The bakery downstairs was incredibly convenient to grab a bite for lunch and breakfast and also for morning coffee and drinks. The prices were good at the bakery."
ROYAL Annecy Apparthôtel
"The hotel is in a perfect location and you can easily walk to everything. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and very clean"
Hôtel La Chapelle
"Staff was super friendly and helpful. The place is new so everything was great. The only 2 things, was the parking garage was a bit difficult to navigate down but secure and the toilet and washroom was built for tall people."
B&B Hotel Annecy Cran-Gevrier
"10/10"
Rivage Hôtel & Spa Annecy
"Brand new hotel with nice wellness area. Very close to the lake and the beach. About 2km walk from town. Some staff great, others less especially in the spa area. Beware of the bathing suit dress code in the spa."
Splendid Hotel Lac d'Annecy - Handwritten Collection
"I really love this hotel and the breakfast was really good. I got breakfast delivered to my room in the morning for €24 you get quite large portions. When I got scrambled eggs, it was an entire bowl of scrambled eggs! Plus a yogurt, an entire bowl of cut fruit, a cappuccino and 3/4 of a full size baguette. The breakfast downstairs is even better. The hotel is clean and nice and the staff is very attentive. There is coffee and tea in your room with a Nespresso machine. There is also a hot water kettle and a refrigerator. There is a good gelato place just next-door that is also a café with many kinds of drinks and milkshakes. This is literally right in front of the park that leads up to the lake and it was a five minute walk to get to the boats for lake tours etc. It’s also right in the old town so you’re also very close to the historical sites to visit. Lots of restaurants nearby. I recommend Vif. The pets are very comfortable and have nice linens. I think the only downside is my room didn’t have slippers or a robe, but apparently you could ask for them at the front desk, but I didn’t know that. There is a fitness center and a sauna, but I didn’t have time to attend either because I was so busy doing other things. Lobby has free fruit water and granita machine (slushies). This is a great hotel. I will return in the future"
