"This was a one night stay by my wife and myself. The check in was smooth, we upgarded to a premium high floor room, which was lovely. The hotel was very smart and well located. The breakfast was excellent. In fact the only negative, quite frankly, tarnished the whole experience. I'll explain. When we checked in, we paid the £15 parking charge, to park our car in the hotels underground car park. we left the car park the following morning and headed home. all was good, or so we thought. Five days letter, a parking charge notice dropped through our letter box. I contacted the hotel immediately and was advised to send them a photograph of the notice with an email covering the circumstances. No aknowledgement of the email was recieved. I contacted the hotel a couple of days later and "someone was going to get back me", they didn't. Then a few after that, still without any communication from the hotel, a letter from the company issuing the parking charge notice arrived, informing me that the charge had been cancelled. All's well that ends well, but my stress levels would have been somewhat lower if the hotel had communicated better and avoided completely if the parking charge notice had not been incorrectly issued in the first place. I still have not had further communication from the hotel, a explanation would have been nice, as would an apology. In conclusion, stay at this smart hotel, but if you use the car park, double check that the reception staff log your payment."

"Very comfortable one night stay in a nice, clean hotel set in wonderful grounds. Staff were all professional and friendly. Food presentation and quality was excellent. Bar area cosy and relaxing. 3 star hotel with a 5 star service. Only negative for me is the bathroom in the larger executive room we stayed in was very tired and is in need of a revamp. Overall, the stay was very relaxing, with the hotel located in a nice country setting and staff were all welcoming."

"Great hotel in a good location for exploring the surrounding area. Parking was good. Beautifully clean and comfortable rooms, cool despite the temperature being more than 30 degrees. Enjoyed our meals in the restaurant (best choice of menu in the town) and lovely breakfast. Staff very helpful when we requested ice to help the foot injury my father had incurred earlier in the day. Thank you! Would definitely stay again and really liked Knaresborough town."

"Very old tradional hotel. Location is brilliant, 10 min walk from centre. Obviously the hotel is very old. So probably limited to how much it can be modernised. However the furniture in the rooms was really old and not in antique way. But more 1980's MFI. Bathroom was reasonable but lots of mold I'm places. Breakfast was fantastic. The staff are professional, polite and friendly. Would stay again, purely for Location."

"Self check in was quite easy, lobby bar was well stocked. Breakfast was the usual buffet style with fruit, croissants, yoghurt etc as well as cooked section. Rooms are very clean, hotel is quite due to its location, approximately 15-20 walk into town, which for us is perfect. It could do with an outside seating area for hotel guests, there is a private seating area but that for functions."

"Staff were lovely, especially bar and spa staff. Had issues with shower not draining, overflowed.Reported twice and was assured maintenance would be informed. Nothing done. Had to use showers at the spa. The staff there were very good. The room was lovely, but bit stingy on the teamaking items. The corridor carpets were very sickly looking"
