We booked a room at Horto Convento, and upon arrival, we were offered an “upgrade” to a nearby hotel under the same ownership, Della Calza Spa & Foresteria. We were promised a suite at this spa hotel, so we accepted the offer.
When we arrived at Della Calza, we discovered that the “suite” was actually just a large room with two extra beds. The room was clean and new, but it did not feel particularly cozy and, in our opinion, was not a suite. We complained about the room and were moved to a deluxe room. After that, everything was fine.
Della Calza Spa & Foresteria is a very beautiful and peaceful place. Our room was clean and had a charming traditional style. Breakfast was also great, and the staff were very pleasant. The only reason we are not giving it five stars is the initial promise of an “upgraded suite,” which caused some issues at the start of our vacation in Florence.
