I was very happy with the ryokan. It was a great value for its appearance and location.

I was such a beautiful place to stay! There was plenty of room, and plenty of pillows - rare in Japan! The decoration was very tasteful and welcoming. Staircase was a little narrow, but this is common in Japan and not a fault of the owner. There was only one toilet, which worked fine for our family of 4. Very clean and warm. Maybe have some senki sembei in the room to feed the deer would be nice.

The staff went out of their way to not just accommodate our needs but anticipate them. I have stayed at hundreds of lodgings in my life and have never experienced such perfect customer service and hospitality.

We had a wonderful stay at Asahikan. The hosts were exceptional and made delicious and abundant meals for us, were super friendly and helpful, and gave us many suggestions on things to see and do in the area. We highly recommend Asahikan and definitely would return.

The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example. We enjoyed our stay immensely. My favorite part was that the deer walk right up to the hotel from Nara park! It is a lovely, clean hotel, and there is a coin washing machine if you need it. The location is close to food areas, also.

From the very first time we arrived in Asuka, on to the house. We were surprised by it's magic. The village is so serene, near by all the amenities we needed from walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, and train station. The house itself is absolutely magical. It's like a fairy tail. Absolutely wonderful inn to stay at (Ryokan), and our favorite stay of a two week Japan trip. It felt like an authentic Japanese experience, while still being very accessible to foreigners like us. The owners are very friendly and attentive right from when you arrive. The rooms are a traditional style with tatami floors. The rooms look out over a small creek so it is very peaceful. One of the best hotels if stayed in Japan and anywhere. Staff is great and rooms are spacious and clean. There are also several commodities for you to enjoy. Will definitely stay again. Convenient too as it as across Nara Station. Easily accesible to many areas.

We had a wonderful stay! Spacious rooms, beautiful views of the rice ponds. The staff was friendly and always went above and beyond for us. They made our stay extra memorable and we hope to return in the future.

A wonderful, new hotel in Nara. One of the few high-end hotels there, competing against Nara Hotel. In contrast to the stodgy competitor, JW Marriott is very modern with traditional Japanese aesthetic.
